EA charging for online.

Has anyone else noticed EA is using online activation codes? They're free if you buy the game brand new but charge like 800 ms points if you dont have a free code. Damn scammers trying to make more $ of us.

does that really work?
A friend of mine did it for Madden... As long as the code has not been used (so get a new case duh) and the code should be in their with the manual. I would suggest taking a picture since putting it in your pocket would come off shady unless you can rak well. I mean why not it's not like they're going to use a display case.

Whatever you do, dont listen to him. Some guy will eventually buy that copy and screwed over because you dont want to spend an extra 10 bucks for a new copy. The reason they have activation codes is because of stores like Gamestop, buying used games makes game developers lose money because no money from used titles go to them. If you like a game, support the developer by buying it new. Don't be a chump.

Really? I don't think they reuse those cases but, I don't know/don't care... The way you make it out to be is that all game developers are two guys in a basement barley making the rent... Well my good sir you are wrong the gaming industry is a money making machine EA is holding down a big part of the market and as far as I'm concerned they can eat a dick. You even pointed it out in your post it's all about the money so why shouldn't I be about the money also? Plus the only time I buy used is for easy achievements other wise I get it new so this really doesn't effect me.
@EnemyBritBomber lol

You seem to be talking about one game publisher, where as my argument was about the developers as a whole. Not all game companies are big cash cows like EA. Also, you need to understand that the small people in the game industry are getting hurt the CEOs of the companies. So if a new IP doesnt do well because of piracy and only used copies being, it isnt the heads of EA that are getting hurt, its the actual creative team behind the game, the people you want to support to make great games. So honestly, EA putting activation codes in new copies of their games is something I support, it'll help cut down on the bullshit that happens between game developers and Gamestop.

lol you act like piracy is a big problem. 20 k copies max usually get downloaded compared to 1 million in sales. piracy/used sales aren't a problem, it's cooperations being greedy. video games are the only market were used sales are the "devil" look at used cars, furniture, etc everything works. but developers seem to think they need a piece of every pie, and these "codes" are absolutely ridiculous nand should not be supported at all.

Yea I'm pretty sure we all have less money than these dudes workin with these huge AAA game developers so I'll take screwin them out of 10 bucks any day...besides, gamestop doesn't take used cases, insert a new disc, put new sticky seals on it and rewrap them up...

Don't pull random numbers out of your ass to support your argument. Do you know why the PC side of games is at a huge decline? Piracy. It may not be as high on console as it is on PC, but it is still a HUGE problem, look it up. Millions of people pirate games/movies/music every day and you seem to think that its okay.
And used games aren't absolutely bad, it does have its place in the world, but the fact is that they essentially take all the money from people, who have basically taken upwards to 2 years of their lives creating a product for you, the consumer. If a publisher charges 15 bucks out of a supposed 60, I see no fault in that.

Piracy is one of reasons that movies and games have become more expensive, keep on *sticking it to the man" while I end up picking the tab up.
Many of these developers put their time in school wise and earned the paychecks they get, to groan about having to put down a little money on someone's hard work, well then maybe you should change jobs yourself.
I mean come on when you're complaining about a 60 dollar game, then maybe you should start looking into finding a way to pirate a future you can afford.

All I know is...
If something I put my heart and soul into was out there in the market, I would want every dollar for it.

I wouldn't pirate music if the music industry wasn't so shitty anymore...(Justin Bieber and all that radio bullshit)...
