When I am playing World of Warcraft I listen to either my Meshuggah or Nine Inch Nails playlists, each of which as all their albums in order.
On Xbox, I keep a lot of random stuff but it's mostly death & black metal. I agree it goes well with action games. When I play racing games I usually turn off all soundtracks/music. Same for when I play shooters online, so I can hear locations and things like footsteps better.
When I play Super Street Fighter 4 I like to sometimes load up a playlist of all the original 16 bit versions of the stage songs from 2.

depends. if its force unleashed, i always listen to Five Finger Death Punch's "Way of the Fist" album. Bad Company 1 or 2- Austrian Death Machine (preferably their first album Total Brutal). if its any other game, i usually play Fear Factory, Sybreed, Meshuggah, Violent Work of Art, Combichrist, Korpiklaani, Eluveitie, or A DARK HALO. but if im in a REALLY good mood i'll spit harsh language while blaring Techno like Pendulum, Alice Deejay, Eiffel 65, or Deadmau5. really throws people off.

If you keep listening to black metal, you'll be looked down on by God. Your soul will be taken to a place of torment, fire, and brimstone.
On the bright side, they do have burritos.
EDIT: On topic, I'm too lazy to change soundtracks.

so in other words, God will banish Meta to Taco Bell.

I listen to whatever sound the game is producing. I find extra music distracting.

No offense to you since it's just a matter of opinion or preference...but if someone is blaring music or cussing their head off in a game....you can guarantee I will immediately mute them. People don't want to hear your music, you want to hear your music.

Typically when im playing action games with a lot of killing I tend to like to have face paced thrash metal going from Slayer, Sodom, Kreator to Evile but cant forget the Six Feet Under. But when it comes to Racing & Sports I got more groove, doom metal, or some 80s hair metal or even hook up some Tech n9ne, Necro & Three Six Mafia. Do you listen to a specific genre when playing certain games?
oh, if you like Six Feet Under be sure to check out my monthly Metal Albums Due out this Month thread. it contains everything a good metalhead needs to look forward to.

i was joking with that part. ive come into too many matches where some guy thinks it's cool to throw on random music that he's so sure people will like. i keep my music to a bare minimum, and do not blare it over a mic. but i do cuss. quite frequently. not like a little kid who just discovered the F word but still enough to get my frustration out. a little "Fuck you man" here, a bit of "up yours asshole" there. the basics.

I get down with some metal, rock, and some alternative. But I what I generally listen to when playing games is the metal bending sound of the wife, bitching about the trash and dishes. Yes that was a joke about the wife, and that makes it FTW!!!!!
