Announced that the Japanese computer games (Sega) on Sunday that the information on 1.3 million users had been stolen from its database in the latest global electronic piracy. The
Sega in a statement that the names and dates of birth and e-mail addresses and passwords for network users (Sega Bass) on the Internet had been hacked but the payment data such as credit card numbers safe.

Said Yoko Najasawa Sega spokesman, "We deeply regret to cause trouble for our customers. We want to work to strengthen security" and added that he did not know when the company would run the network (Sega Bass).

I can agree with that Mo but look at the publicity the PSN hackers got, I'm still seeing PSN jokes on the internet over a month after the network was fixed and 2 and a half months after the initial attack. These attacks could become a "coming of age" hack if you will where it's everyone's final goal to show how great of a hacker they are.

Plus if they pick the right targets a relativly small group of hackers could come upon a fairly large amount of financial information which they could use to make themselves a nice sum.

I hope it isn't going to happen but I feel like its more common than it was before and can't help thinking thats what inspired the sega hack.

Oh, from the hackers stand-point, I agree with you. It will only be afterward that any companies that do get hacked will be apologetic (Sony). Now that Sega's been hit, who next?
