Totally disagree with all the Fallout 3 and Oblivion lovers.
I hated Fallout 3 and Oblivion with a passion.
Borderlands is the first RPG (RPG/FPS combo that is) to hold my interest for more than a few hours. So I guess this DLC is for people like me who really dig this game and couldn't stand those others.
If I had a dollar for every time I fell asleep playing Borderlands, I could afford to buy Gearbox and I'd fire them all and there wouldn't be any more DLC for this disk o shit.
Personally, I disliked Borderlands long before the DLC came out. It was like if someone made a shooter/rpg hybrid and aimed the difficulty level at a bunch of kindergartners. Instead of making it one or the other genre, they just failed at both. Then, they were like "Oh, we're sneaky ninjas- so people don't complain how short and insubstantial this story is, we're going to force people to play through it again to complete the game."
The game was- ok. If I had just stopped playing after I finished the first playthrough, I'd have thought "well... that sucked," but that would be about it. Getting the full 1k killed it for me, because I don't think forcing people to replay the same shit to get achievements can be considered "replay value." Getting the 1250 for the first 2 DLCs put the final nails in the Borderlands coffin for me. You know how your mom always said "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" right? Well in this case it should be "If you can't release GOOD dlc, don't release anything at all." The new DLC is decent? The 80 planned for the future are gonna be good? Too damn bad- they already lost my $ by releasing the weak ones first. I will never touch that game again.
That said, I think I'm the only person I know who feels that strongly against it. Most people loved it until Moxxi came out.
Also, I dislike the use of so many x's in the DLC titles.
Thank you for an INTELLIGENT response!
I think you nailed why I liked Borderlands and didn't like Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Fallout 3 and Oblivion were definitely more difficult and a much greater challenge to level up, etc. That's not what I'm looking for in this type of a game.
I don't have super long periods of time to commit to a game so those games just don't work for me. They don't hold my interest enough to put in the necessary time to advance.
Does that mean I like a "dumbed down" or "nerfed" game. In other people's words, yes. It's just a DIFFERENT game and tailored to people with my schedule and time to put into it. I like that it was more of a shooter than an RPG. They have been wildly successful so it is obvious that I'm not alone. I guess I'm just more of a casual gamer than many of you.
Does that make me less of a gamer, NO, just a different kind of gamer.
P.S. not accusing Melissa of taking a shot at me in her post in any way.
P.P.S. I think the X's are lame too. Here in Utah there are SO many businesses etc with 2 Z's in their name. Since we have the lame Utah Jazz here, we have to have all these stupid businesses with ZZ names too. It's so tacky. Carzz! Sudzz car wash, etc...TACKY!
