Just for something to strike up some conversation. What does the xboxamerica community think. I recently posted this blog on my TA page:

"So Ive noticed alot lately via various friend feeds that there are a "ton" of people jumping on the "high TA ratio gaming list". Did they ever stop to think about why the TA ratio is so high? Is it because they will be spending the next 6 weeks of their life grinding out an achievement? Is it because it is a game that requires a higher skill level then they actually have? A game maybe that requires "x" amound of people to do an online achievement? Are there glitched achievements or servers no longer running?

Are you really that much cooler or a better skilled gamer then someone else when you played a game for a month straight with say a 3000+ TA ratio but yet had to have 6 people commit just as much of their life to "help" you with that same game? If you play a game for a month straight and it is worth 3000 TA points and it takes you and 5 people that entire month to reach the full 3000 then you should you only get 600 TA points as it took you "AND" 5 other people a few hundred hours a piece of boosting to reach that mark, you didnt "earn" the full 3000 or did you? Now I understand TA is a site that revolves around boosting games Im not questioning the validation of the site but should you be rewarded as high for boosting a game as someone who did it all solo or with 1 or 2 boosted achievements? TA takes the difficulty of an achievement and the number of people who have the achievement and thus creating a score for each achievement. If you need 100 kills with a rifle and have a game with 8 people and 7 are standing there letting the 8th shoot them does that make the achievement really that difficult compared to someone playing in a game with 7 randoms and should it have such a high score or ratio? Lets take the "retirement savings plan" achievement in Army of Two...if I played that game religiously because I am a big FPS nut and earned it playing randoms night in and night out, and you boosted it for 3 weeks just standing still and shooting one another, is your achievement as impressive as mine? If I am a better strategy based gamer (say Halo Wars) then you and finish a game by myself and you boosted most if not all the mp achievements should you be rewarded to the extent that I was or be penalized because you arent as good at RTS games as the next guy?

Should you be playing a game that has a higher skill level in terms of completing then what you yourself is capable of completing on your own and do you feel that you deserve the full rewards for the time and effort involved compared to those who had the skill do to it solo in maybe less time? How does your gamertag reflect you as a gamer?"

So what does the xboxamerica community think...should/do people feel like they are a better gamer then someone because they sat and ground game after game after game for months on end? With that being said I can say for example that in Gears of War I would feel comfortable in my ability to hold my own in the mp, in L4D/L4D2 I suck!

Should I be beating my brains out trying to complete half the games I own, because my reaction times have slowed down as I have aged? Probably not, but then again, I should probably also remember to look up the difficulty of most of the games I buy BEFORE I buy them, just so I am NOT stuck in that rut. Once I own the damn game, and it is stuck on my gamertag, I am going to play it as much as I have to just to complete it.
How does my gamertag reflect me as a person? I don't cheat, therefore I have earned every point of my gamerscore. I'm proud of it.

It isnt a question about whether or not you cheated to earn any achievements its about whether there is or should be the same feeling of accomplishment between someone that got "said" achievement naturally or someone who it wasnt gonna come naturally and boosted it for a week, month, how ever long it took.

Try one more example, the "MP 1000" achievement in Fear...would you feel any different if you sat and "played out" 1000 total online matches compared to someone else whom got with a buddy and went to the one rooftop level and jumped off the side 1000 times? Wouldnt you feel like you put more effort into getting the achievement? So shouldnt the reward be greater? How should/would that reflect in your mind, their mind, the communities mind, whatever gaming site you belong to etc. should it be "weighed" the same as far as both gamers having the achievement even though was 2 entirely different ways involved of getting the achievement.

Its kinda like my one buddy tells me all the time about my gamerscore....my gamerscore is made up of quantity over quality meaning that Ive played a shit load of games compared to the number of games actually finished which makes it not as impressive

This is always going to be an issue for people who feel "slighted" that their hard earned achievement came easier to another person. Take the Gears 2 XP events. There are people who still played legit matches during the 30x events to get their wings, yet others still bitch, because they got theirs without the aid of 30x XP.

Boosting still requires time, and dedication, to achieve your goal. I don't feel it should be rewarded with less of a TA score. Go boost COD3 sometime and tell me it's easy, with all the shit you gotta go through while doing it. I helped roughly 10-12 people here get their MP completed in that game.

Work smarter, not harder.

Let me first say this. My proudest achievements are the ones I have that can't be boosted anyway, Hexic, Peggle, etc. Also, along with what PE said, the only boostable achievements that have a high TA ratio are ones that take such a level of commitment and dedication that, yes, a certain level of satisfaction is deserved. I won't even get into the camaraderie formed by people who help each other for so long.

With that being said...

If you want to build a brick wall by carrying four bricks from the pile at a time, be my guest. I'll be using the wheelbarrow. This is not to say there aren't people who love to carry bricks, it's just not for everyone. I will still have that sense of accomplishment once the wall is done. Some walls need a couple buddies to help build it.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's all up to each individual's point of view. Are you in it for the journey or the destination?

Achievement hunting has become a game in and of itself. Did you know a guy built a robot that holds a controller and just starts and quits Perfect Dark online games? Simply made to get the 1000 online matches achievement! The sense of accomplishment for doing that is far greater than playing 1000 matches of a game you don't want to play.

Another example is Stallion. You know who he is. 90% of people with 360s do. I'm sure he's not the greatest at any of the 700 games he's played, but he is good at getting achievements. The easiest and fastest ways he can. He builds brick walls with dump trucks.

So I guess I would say it's all based on your own perspective.

I like that!

The only people to blame for this is game publishers. Why do online achievements exist anyways? Weren't there enough problems on leaderboards already without them?

What the hell does your gamertag have to do with it? I say if people want to waste their time boosting a few MP cheevos when they could be playing more games then all the power to them. The only MP boosting I've ever done was for BioShock 2 and Prey and that's because nobody ever played them.

If you really think about it, gamerscore has no value on its own. The value to it is what we, as gamers, give it. Just like different people have different hobbies, or are attracted to different things in mates, different people value different achievements. Some people do quantity over quality, some value completions, some only value multiplayer, etc... The sense of accomplishment someone gets from a certain achievement shouldn't be diminished just because someone else plays another way.

+1 !!

Chasing achievements is just a hobby for me.

If I want to play for fun, I will start playing Oblivion or Fallout 3.

no no...your gamertag reference meant if someone looked at your gamertag and looked at your games would they see a bunch of games that were no doubtibly boosted because of the ridiculous amount of time/effort/players needed involved or see games of all varieties that didnt have online achievements or were quicker and easier then others.

The whole purpose of this thread was just to make debate of some sites that rewards gamers for achievements, for instance, TA because of their achievement point system and is it just to give 1 particular achievement a point value of say 500 points based on difficulty involved but yet reward someone the same 500 points for getting 8 people together to let 1 person at a time shoot the other 7 for 6-10 hours compared to someone who put 50 hours in playing regularly against random people

@theEVOL1....i totally agree with your work smarter not harder statement...i think sometimes when you get a game especially an older game you might want to do a little research into it if you are looking to get as much out of it as possible but just trying to make points for people who would be on both sides of the fence....Some people who are "hardcore completionist" usually wont touch a game that requires 40+ hours of boosting but there are those that would and to those that are better skilled at some games then others do they have an agruement when it comes to some of the sites handicapping them as far as achievements earned that they did in a few hours compared to those that may have had to boost them by giving both gamers the "same" amount of points...Should skill involved be equal to those who arent as skilled but put in the time and effort to get the same achievement boosting?

p.s. one quick note on your Stallion reference...you know there have been topics for a while now about him having more then 1 person playing on his ID...I have personally gamed with him a few times in Ninety Nine Nights 2 doing the MP and the first time we played he didnt have a deep southern draw as he did the 2nd time we played
