XBOX 360 Arcade

So, anyone hear anything about the new SKU replacing the core? If what I've been reading is true, then I may get my girlfriend one of these for Christmas (possibly...maybe) along with a tiny LCD TV. Hey, it could happen...

Yes, they're getting rid of the Core system for the Arcade 360. If my memory serves me correct, it still doesn't come with a HDD, but comes with a memory card so you can save your progress on the arcade games there.

Microsoft doesn't have much luck keeping their secrets under wraps. After an undeniable critical mass of evidence spoiled their holiday bundle surprise, they might have still been able to hold on to the other SKU-reshuffling rumor. But no. This time, Ars Technica, citing an inside source, has leaked actual product photos of the new much-rumored Arcade SKU that will reportedly be taking over the Core later this month.
The pictures confirm nearly everything that the leaks have provided so far: the new unit comes with composite cables, a 256MB memory card, wireless controller, and a disc containing five Xbox Live Arcade games. The box confirms that Pac-Man and Uno are two of the five games, so the other three rumored titles to be gracing the disc -- Boom-Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2 -- seem likely as well.
We'll have to see if this unit does indeed replace the Core at the price of $279.99 like the rumor has been stating, but the early leaks don't appear to have been wrong so far, so there's no reason to assume they will be in the future.

I read where it said it was going to replace it but it's staying the same price 279.99
I don't see anything wrong with it

Well, there's full proof. A demo console before Microsoft even announced it. They've got a pretty big leak, it seems. It really sucks that the five games are just trials; that's pretty stupid. It does have HDMI, though if you're cheap enough to buy the Arcade bundle, chances are you don't have an HDTV, or at least not one with HDMI. They've also suggested it retails at $299.99, which is higher than I would pay considering what you're getting. For another $50 more, you get the $100 20GB hard drive, which you'll need if you plan on using the console for any length of time. I'm not too sure if I'll be getting it now. Aside from it being something I'm pretty sure she'd break or not take care of, it's a little too pricey for me (even at $279.99, which isn't a bad deal). She may have to stick with hte $5 gamecube from the yard sale

Lol. Nice one.
I'd love to buy this Xbox. Never know when you may need a new one.

Whats wrong with your 360. Can it be fixed. Three red lights is covered free for three yrs. If it can't be fixed or your like me and just can't stand to wait for it to be fixed, than an arcade would be good.
