But yeah, decided to do it. Download was about 2.35GB and downloaded in under and hour. I was getting anxious lol. When the ISO finished downloading I immediately burned to DVD, which seemed to take longer than downloading the damned ISO file lol. Once the disc finished burning it was now time to install...on my girlfriends laptop
Reason I did that, is my pc has a ton of crap installed and when you install the beta, you cant retain any of the programs in working order. Everything just gets thrown in a folder called windows.old and you cannot use the programs.
Anyways, started the installation and that took close to about an hour. The PC rebooted and I had to go through a series of windows asking for the product key microsoft emailed me and area, blah blah blah. Then the computer boots up and Windows 7 begins to run...
First impression, wow it booted up fast and the desktop and start up bars look clean and redefined. Much better experience as compared to Vista or XP.
So then I head straight to Windows Update, and start downloading all the recent updates and so on and so forth. Got that all done and noticed a little flag on the bottom right corner with an 'X'. I clicked it and it gave me a list of things to do to get the computer protected with virus protection and firewall. Finished up all that and now there is no more red 'X'
So far I am highly impressed with Windows 7. It definately blows away its predecessors and will set the stage for being the best OS so far windows has had to offer. I know this is only a beta and it seems simple now, but I am really looking forward to what the Retail version will look and feel like once released. If things just improve from here and until then, I will definately be purchasing the retail version.
Thanks for reading my thoughts on Windows 7, so now, lets here from those who have also experienced the beta.
