It's because the main use of facebook is networking... there are networks for schools, jobs, cities, etc.
I have my profile private because the stuff I write on there is stuff I don't want anyone who knows my name and can search me to read. It's not like Myspace, where you make an account a lot of times to meet people you don't know... it's more a place to go to keep in contact with people you ALREADY know. My friends and I end up in these long, random, pointless threads in someone's status updates. And it's cool because they can all be in the same thread, rather than having to go to each person's profile. I've really been getting into it more lately, though- before I had no use for it.
i suppose that's a cool feature. didn't realize that.
i use myspace to keep in touch with old friends, and while it's not apparently as organized as facebook, i don't think any of them have a facebook. so i'll be stickin' with the myspace.
ah shit who am i kidding. this is the new myspace lol!
