Hey all, I know a lot of you use Mac OS, but I was wondering if there were any Vista users out there? I had Vista for a week on a laptop I bought and I brought the thing back because it sucked ass (mainly, it couldn\'t run any programs I bought it for).

I\'ve got a sweet desktop computer I built recently, dual-graphics cards with SLI, and AMD Athlon X2 chip, 2 GB of RAM, the whole nine yards. Today someone also gave me a compact computer meant to sit ontop of your desk (it\'s smaller in width than my Comcast HD box, and only slightly higher) so I was thinking what if I jack this thing up and stick in my entertainment center? My TV has a DVI connection on it, so why not?

I boosted it to 1GB of RAM (from 256MB) and it\'s got a P4 in it (around 2.4GHz). I\'m looking into getting a video/TV combo card (strapped for space inside) for it, and was going to load Vista on it so I could play some of the Vista-Only games (Yay Achievements!).

Anyways, my question to any tech-savvy readers would be: Any good free Tivo-like programs out there? I\'ve heard of Myth TV, or whatever it\'s called, but any users? Also, anyone play any of the Vista games out there (Halo 2 or Shadowrun as far as I know)? Or anyone use the Wireless PC adapter or wired PC controllers?

Also, forgot to mention, anyone a lot about bit torrent? I know the basics, and I use uTorrent, but I'm not sure exactly how to configure it for the best d/l times and such. One more thing :) Anyone know of any good firewall software to keep Bit Torrent protected (I use PeerGuardian right now). I'm not sure if I'm better off setting up WinXP to run in a Virtual machine for use when I need it, or to just set it up to dual-boot. However, chances are I'm never going to turn the thing off.

i know everything there is about torrents. feel free to message me. i prefer zone alarm suite over anything else. norton is too needy and everything else just seems shitty. azureus is my torrent prog of choice. how exactly is vista being poopy? i've had moderate success with x86 programs inside vista.

as for vista, I hate it. :p I have messed around with it, and played some games on it. no big whoop. I do want the achievements for halo 2 though. grrrrr.

i have used the pc adapter, but never the wired controller.

i have a vista. and i love it. i dont record tv shows with it though so i cant tell you about any tivo things for it. and the only game for vista-ish i own is jericho. and my graphics card was programmed for vista. so yea i kept it that way. i got 1022mb of ram which im hopin to by a gig this weekend. amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor. and a nvidia geforce 7600 gt graphics card. so all i really use my computer for is gaming and internet. but what vista games are out now? i was thinking about getting some more.

Interesting Sensei, I'll certainly have to pester you as I have a great many questions about Bit Torrent, but I guess they'll have to wait. Do all of those games support Live Anywhere? I didn't think any games running on XP did, but if they do then I may just try to play those. I'm assuming all the achievements are the same as the 360 counterparts? If you can get achievements for Bioshock, I may just pick it up for XP. I have this beast of a computer I built, but unfortunatley it hasn't seen any games just yet (It's seen much homework, however). I'd really like to see what this SLI setup can do.

God, if I had the money, I definately would upgrade to ultimate, but I can't afford it right now

Never really vista because my computer has a lot of after market parts and software that Vista keeps trying to shut down when it gets in there so I'm sticking with XP for now
