The Nyko Intercooler

I've heard lots of either good or bad things about them, and was wondering what other people reactions to this are?

I personally have one, and thing it does a decent job cooling the 360 ( only beef is with the AC adapter plug-in being too loose, and can cause the poer cable to disconnect).

There is also rumors as to another intercooler being available to UK residents...

heres a pic of what I saw. *note* someone here should recognize this

lol, yea i've got the nyko and i know zoboa has it as well.. i like it and it does work on cooling the bad boy down

Yea I might get one soon just because I play my 360 ALOT. I want one that looks cool/affordable/not loud and does the job, is the nyko right for me?

The Nyko is a little louder than the 360 itself, but if your playing a game and have the music up....you'd hardly notice.

Has anyone else heard of the intercoolers burning out 360's power supply? A friend recomended me to this article on xboxscene.com, and it got me kind of worried. I took my intercooler off just in case. My 360 is a release console, and I haven't really had any problems with it. Is it safe to still use the intercooler?

This is another in a long line of hoaxes. I saved the picture down to my computer, then opened it twice in two different versions of paint. In the first one, I left at normal size. In the other, I expanded it to the maximum 800x zoom.

In the regular size pic, it looks like scorching....but in the expanded, you can see that someone did a very good job (but not good enough) of faking the scorch marks. While "creating" the scorch marks, they got a little careless and got the black/brown coloring on the portion that is open space, not surface area. The pixel shading shows a definite hard edge from someone using one of the graphic editing tools.

Not sure why there are so much hostility towards this product.

that is pretty messed up, especially if all its intent is to help elongate the life of your console. But i have heard that microsoft will not service your xbox if they find that you have had one on it before. does anyone know if this is true?

Z, are you sure that's not the quality of the photo?

I don't think the image is photoshopped. I've heard a lot of bad reviews on the intercooler, and a lot of good ones. I think it's either a hit or a miss. Personally, I'm just going to avoid it. I don't have a need for the ports yet, and I've never had any 360 problems yet so overheating doesn't seem to be a problem. I often play my 360 for long periods of time too.

How would MS know?

And I could take a lighter and do that to it too. I don't trust that pic entirely.

Pretty sure. The telltale sign is the "scorch marks" that extend into open space at the top. Not only does air not scorch, but there is a very distinct line that would only becaused by someone using a airbrush tool in a phto editor......

well it would be hard to prove of coarse, but if you had dust lines of the intercooler or anything to that effect. I just heard that IF they find out, they could completely void your warranty
