On your dashboard, you can see your games completed card which shows all the games you have played in which you have all the achievements AVAILABLE to it.

Meaning, if you maxed it out (at retail release) and never played it again (even after DLC and new chievos) it will STILL read as maxed. However, if you buy the DLC or have the system update for the game, it will render it unmaxed as the total of achievements possible has not been attained.

This being said, do you think since DLC is optional and needs to be purchased, that if you buy a game and max it out, it should be maxed no matter what comes out to support it later? Should you need to buy DLC to have it maxed as it is game content for the said game? Whats your opinion.

IMO, it should be maxed with retail disc chievos ONLY, as DLC is a seperte buy (in essence) that compliments the game and gives you side things to do in it. Also, if it costs, I shouldnt be forced to pay more to max.

I agree. I think if you purchase the DLC, only THEN should you have to have the achievements for completion.

Its a little bit like requiring someone to beat COD3 to get completion on COD2. I know it's not the same, but it is bullshit to force someone to buy extra shit to finish your game

MS knows people like to complete their games. in my opinion, that's why we now have a nice little completion card. guess what though, folks... this game's getting some DLC that you have to pay for. whoops. there goes one of your completions. -1. guess you're gonna' buy that DLC now huh?

it's business, but it's still bullshit.
online achievements used to grind my gears more than anything, but this has gotten much worse.

2 of my biggest achievement pet peeves

1. DLC Achievements. I had the full 1k in RE5, L4D, Halo 3, and Fallout 3. i usually don't try to 1k a game unless i really like it, and im most proud of these 1k's (especially l4d/re5, expert/professional were MURDEROUS!) and oh, whats this? more achievements??!?! new DLC?!?! i mean really, all of those were rather uncalled for. the only DLC i actually thought made sense in these was Broken Steel for Fallout 3. because w/ that you could finish the MQ, then turn around and go and finish other things. all the others had no real point to them...

which brings me to #2

2. Online Achievements. please note, 3/4 of the games i mentioned above got online achievements added. now i find those rather stupid. what if someone doesnt play on xbox live? or what if someone isnt good at the online for a game? then they cant 1k the game and theyre screwed over. plus, some of those online achieves are rather difficult in the games cause a lot of other people will get really good at a game and make it really difficult for you to get the achievements. like in l4d, i got RAPED the other day in versus trying to get some of the achievements, and none of the people were bots! then of course you have people on my team quitting out and stuff...its rather annoying x-x

just my 2 cents >->

I completely agree DLC cheevos are stupid, unless they have to do w/ the Mq like Broken Steel, online achievements are pretty dumb as well, as not everyone has access to live, in my mind that violate M$ rules about having to purchase content for the original 1000 GS
