This may have been brought up before, and shot down for whatever reason. Now don't get me wrong, I love having XBA be ad-free...well, mostly. I think that in the search area is the only place I've seen them. But sell advertising space, gaming related only and use the profits from that to use toward prizes for winning tournaments that are held by XBA members, I guess TK pays out of pocket for the prizes that he offers up, and to offset the cost to boobs to run the site.

Just a suggestion...

doesn't seem like a bad idea, but as you've noticed, i think it's already happening to an extent.
i'd like to see the money go towards upgrading the site, to be honest.
don't get me wrong. i don't think TK should have to pay for all the prizes. i think it should be a group effort, but that would take some big steps. with that said, it doesn't seem like xba has been having continuous tournies like it used to. with the whole event thing, you know. "official" tournaments aren't as frequent as they used to be, unless i'm just not visiting often enough, lol.

If a tournament is held by a member the prize should be given out of pocket from that member. TK did a great job and I know that all the tournaments I went to there were many people who joined and they turned out great. We did a fundraiser last year so boobz could keep up this site, but as far as that I think the prizes should be self contributed. This is a fairly small community and the prizes don't have to be that big for people to join, points cards and a month of live is just as great as the next thing. Half the time people don't even show up to these even if you give them advanced notices.

Yeah, I've experimented with a few sources of advertisements but none of them have proven to be worth it. I am continuing to search for advertisers, so maybe eventually this will be a possibility.

As for donations, I really appreciate your guys help. We've had three fundraisers throughout Xbox America's history and each one has really lightened the financial burden of keeping Xbox America running. Unless I can find a new source of funds, we will likely have another one in late summer.
