With the long-rumored 65nm "Falcon" chips apparently rolling out, it's out with the new, and in with the newer. So says Mercury News reporter Dean Takahashi, who claims new chips codenamed "Jasper" are in the planning stages. Takahashi's word on the subject is of note, as he was the first to report on the Falcon chips, and we all know how that turned out.
The Jasper chipset, which will reportedly also feature 65nm memory and graphics chips, should be more reliable than even the Falcon ones, according to Takahashi. The new chips could be rolling into consoles as early as next August. He also claims it could result in another price cut come time for the 2008 holiday season.
