One rumor out at the just starting Game Developers Conference is that Microsoft will announce the intention to purchase EPIC Games, creator of Gears of War. Apparently, GamePro magazine is claiming that MS will pay $1 billion for EPIC with the intention of having the deal completed by this summer. If EPIC is acquired by Microsoft, so will the Unreal Engine, which is used across every single platform including the PS3. With Gears of War 2 more than likely being unveiled at GDC this week, this rumor may get confirmed rally quick.
