We all remember the original Xbox; the console that gave one of gaming's biggest franchises its first start. The console that came with an on-board Ethernet card and 8GB hard drive standard; the console that delivered the first unified online service. I have many fond memories of my big black box, and it still keeps giving to this day as a soft-modded media center. Unfortunately, those good times are at an end, as you will all begin to see this sign at your local Gamestop in the coming week or so:
2009 is out with the old and in with the new, it seems. I will keep an eye out for a huge sale, but it would have to be an amazing price to warrant a purchase. My sister gets some use out of my old Xbox, but I have yet to even download the backwards compatibility update. Still, lets all bow our heads and give a moment of silence, because without the original Xbox we may have never enjoyed an Xbox Live like we do today, and XbA and many other sites may not even exist.
