Xbox 360 Gets Platinum Hits
Project Gotham and Perfect Dark lead a first batch of discounted games. In the last generation of consoles, the most popular games (or games getting on in age, depending on how you look at it) were rewarded with a reduced price and a sparkly designation -- whether Platinum, Player's Choice, or Extra Chunky. The programs let players save money on big titles -- so long as they're willing to wait a while after release.
Inaugurating the same idea for the new generation, Microsoft today announced a Platinum Hits series for the Xbox 360. The program begins on October 15 with four titles -- Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo: Elements of Power, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and Project Gotham Racing 3 -- each of which will carry a new suggested price of $29.99.
Of course, these won't be the last games to get Platinum treatment. Microsoft plans to add another batch of titles to the program in spring of 2007.
