I have 3 macs (a 17" and a 24" iMac as well as a Macbook). I use the 24" iMac for my photography and video editing. My daughter uses the smaller iMac for her school work (the schools here are all Mac). The portable is my wife's and you cannot get it away from her. She was the hardest to "convert" - but once she used it for a couple of weeks, she was hooked.

Essentially, you need to ask yourself what you're planning on doing with this shiny new toy. If gaming is on the list, you can either go the Windows machine route... OR... install Windows onto the Mac. Price point is really not that different between PCs and Macs, especially if you're looking at a high-end gaming PC (in some of those cases, Macs are actually cheaper!)

ya..i have a 15" macbook pro and i got the vmware program on it that you can run windows through. in my experience, macs are better at being able to maintain a lot of programs on it that pcs. my parents got a brand new sony vio last year and it only has used up 20 of 180 gb on the hard drive and it takes 10 or 15 seconds to react to any thing you do. my mac ive had for around a year because i had to get it for college. it has never crashed on me and it is just as fast as the day i got it, and this is with me already using up 80 gb of the 180 gb hard drive. there arent as many programs for the mac because they are harder to write, which is why vmware would be of use, but it can operate so much better. also, macs dont get virus' like pcs do. pcs you need to get spyware and all that junk. macs you dont because the chances of them getting a virus is slim. the only virus i have heard of is when 2000 or 20000 macs got infected because they used bittorrent to illegally download a bootlegged iwork '09 program which had the virus implanted in it. it only took me like a week or so to learn how to used it, and if you cant find something, you just hit the finder program, type in the name, and BAM...there it is...its nice. so my suggestion would be mac...its all up to you tho.

Yea, yea I know this is old but I just picked up a MacBook Pro today, 1883.63 later, it's fuckin awesome. I've been slowly converting... Went from old motorola phones to an iPhone, pc to MacBook, and even alarm clock to iHome. Love them all.

Hell, I thought someone else made a thread about it...kudo's to reviving an old thread by me, haha.

I still would love to convert entirely over to Mac...I just don't have the money for it right now, so the next computer will be another PC..... unfortunately

ya...the new imacs are actually a pretty decent price...the 21.5" cheap one is 1199, but the 27 is a little more expensive at 1699..but it runs 1440p which is crazy...and the mighty mouse is really amazing

u can get 2 times the specs but they will run the same speed if not slower. it just takes so much more out of a pc to do the same thing as a mac. i will never buy a pc again

Not necessarily true. I sold my mac mini months ago and still have 2 PCs....lol

Even though I really do like macs....

I never plan on going back, out of all the pc's I've bought I've spent about 20 hours setting those damn things up from the factory, this MacBook took 5 minutes and it's good to go!!! And you can't beat the 3 year warranty.

I love my Macbook. I'm still paying off the card I used to buy it but it's worth every penny. Zero problems.
