It seems Bethesda has a "full" expansion to follow up the Knight of the Nine download for Oblivion. I haven't downloaded Knight of the Nine, or the Vile Lair yet, as I'm waiting for some points for Christmas but I really like how Bethesda is keeping Oblivion going with all of this extra content. It really goes to show you how you can still keep a game fresh by utilizing the XBL Marketplace. I wish more games would follow in their footsteps and add content to existing games. Personally, I'd rather have some new in-game content than a bunch of movies. Rockstar has promised GTA4 will be a keeper with downloadable content, so we'll see if more companies follow this model in the future.

Here are the first concrete details about the Shivering Isles expansion. It seems to boast 30-plus hours of new adventuring, features new quests, monsters, expanded freeform gameplay - quest lines that branch more than before, for example - and a new land "that you can watch change according to your vital life-or-death decisions". An estimated release time of Q2 of 2007. Looks pretty cool. I really love how Bethesda has kept this game alive and fresh months after it's initial release.

As of now this is not confirmed for the Xbox 360 or any other consoles. It is strictly a PC expansion at this point. However, Bethesda has released its mini-expansion packs across all platforms.

Seeing as how Shivering Isles landmass will be 1/4 the size of Cyrodill and thirty plus hours of gaming I have a few questions to ask.
1. What is the product going to cost?
2. It would be nice if Microsoft let them release this expansion on dvd as well as marketplace. (I know they are working that out now, wether or not they will.)
3. Will it hold any new achievements? I believe a sizeable expansion deserves 500 extra achievement points to be awarded.
Update!
Well, after posting I decided to hit the google machine and look up any info on possible further Oblivion achievements. The way my search came across is that Microsoft doesn't allow achievements for add ons or expansions if the original game has already used the aloted 1000 achievement points. So, thats that I guess.

That kind of sucks about the achievements, and I don't think they will release a separate DVD with the expansion, it'll probably just be over the marketplace as that's what MS is really pushing.
