I thought I would throw this question out there to see if anyone had any ideas...

I purchased this Toshiba laptop last year for DJ'ing...

http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/satellite_A105-S4004.pdf

I still own this game...

http://nwn.bioware.com/about/requirements.html

Why is my laptop having such a hard time running this game? For some reason I have to turn just about every nice graphic feature off and run it at 800x600 instead of my desktop resolution of 1024x768.

I know my laptop only has a 128mb shared memory video card in it, but I thought for sure with the Duo Processor's and 1GB of Ram in it that it would run very smooth, even with everything turned on.

Does anyone know of any laptop gaming suggestions on improving things on my laptop? The game runs flawlessly on my desktop.

I always wanted to go back and finish all three expansions for this game, and I thought putting it on my laptop would be convenient, because my wife and I sit through a lot of our DVR'd shows in the theater room and I could multi-task. :p

Awesome, I play Neverwinter Nights too :)
First, I know for a fact that their recommended system requirements are a bit of a lie, it definitley needs more power than it lists, but, without actually seeing the game running on your laptop, in my professional opinion it is because of your video card. The Intel 945GM is a low end, integrated graphics chip for notebook computers. It has no physical memory of it's own, so it shares system memory, up to 128MB. Sharing memory is a bit slower than the card actually having it's own physical memory, and this card in particular is not known for its gaming capabilities. The only thing that I could suggest is make sure you have the newest DirectX installed, and make sure that the graphics adapter is taking as much memory as possible (128MB).

Hmm, intersting game advisor website. I'll try it on my laptop at home tonight just to see what it says.

It's not that it doesn't run on it, it just runs really choppy. Since this is my first laptop game I have installed, I was curious if there were some tweaks or fixes to make gaming on a laptop a little smoother.

Does it make a big difference having my desktop set at 1024x768 and the game running at 800x600? I tried running the game at 1024x768 and it looked really really good, but wow, the minute I tried rotating the camera - I started feeling queezy.

Lol, I've had that feeling before. No, that shouldn't affect anything, most older games run at 800x600, even though the new standard is 1024x768.
