Actually it's the opposite. The first Medal of Hone game came in 1999, the first Call of Duty game came in 2003.
Here, 2015 inc made MoH Allied Assault, the company went under and it's successor is Infinity Ward.

Medal of Honor Airborne was the only one I played, it was ok, nothing compared to CoD3 even, maybe after I see some videos...

This topic has inspired me to go check out the MoH series. Which ones (how many of them) are on the xbox 360?
And imo, good to go for EA trying to reboot the series to compete with call of duty. I think modern warfares success shows the general shooting public is a lil weary of older wars and wants more of the here and now.

@impure yeah, people are getting tired of ww2. and older wars have tried but failed civil war especially. im sure ww1 and revolution were tried before too. more recent wars were mostly too recent, which is why vietnam has actually been thought about but never actually made. the reason modern warfare is so excepted though is because its going on right mow and its something that effects everyone somehow, but is not actually based on specific battles or anything. so MoH moving to modern war is either going to be really good, if it succeeds, or really bad if it fails.

Actually, Vietnam games have been made as you can read here,

This was released in 04 up against Conflict:Vietnam, a sequel to Shellshock was released this year.
As for recent wars they've been covered as well with games like Operation Desert Storm and the like. As far as I know the only ones that haven't been touched are civil and WW I.
actually there is a civil war game out, and its a FPS. it's History Channel's Civil War. lolz
i dont think there are any revolutionary FPS. i think if they made it right it could be fun, but if an average studio developed it, it'd be boring.
