NBA 2K8

Are there any secrets to this game because I can't even beat the Spurs on Rookie? The last basketball video game I owned was NBA Live 98 or something, so I'm not familiar with recent advancements in the genre.

Any advice would be appreciated.

you can play with the game settings if your boosting, so they miss everyshot or w/e, other than that it's pretty simple, just learn the controls, it's more of a defensive game unlike live thats run an gun....

I have noticed with the 2k series that shooting is a little intricate....you gotta try and release the button at the top of the shot, otherwise it will be a brick

What about these random timeouts? I don't use a timeout and suddenly one happens automatically.

they could be "t.v." timeouts but I doubt it. Try changing some of the settings. Sometimes the default has it so the cpu on your team will call time outs for ya

Yeah, I think it might be but I gotta spend more time with it to really tell. I wish there was a tutorial or something. I tried a 3pt shootout and I missed every shot.

hahahah so its pretty hard to shoot? It probably takes a bit of practice but I guess that gives it some replay value. The more you play the better you get

Yeah. The "X" button will shoot for you, but like you said, I think you need to release at the top of the shot. In the three point shootout, you can't use the "X" button and have to use the right joystick and it's insanely difficult to time. I'm not sure how you're supposed to do it. I tried to do it like you do free throws, back on the stick until it's time to release, and then quickly forward.

I've been playing this game more and I have to say I really really like it. I still suck, but I'm enjoying myself even if I do have to stick to the Sonics on Rookie. I just can't get sick of dropping 50 with LeBron. These games have come far since NBA Live 98.
