I am usually more comfortable playing in 3rd person, but it doesn't always translate well. Oblivion was one game that I couldn't play in 3rd person, but I have always preferred Gears 3rd/1st person hybrid view to Halo, COD, and all of the other strict 1st person shooters.
I think that including it, but not limiting gamers to it is a nice touch, but I'm skeptical as to whether it will be as smooth as it needs to be to be pulled off.

Not sure this will be a good thing. Third person works for Gears, but changing to third person for CoD seems wrong after being in first person for the entire series up 'til now.
