Well, I'm typing this post from my new.. err.. refurbished.. MacBook Pro. I have to say, I get a tent in my pants just looking at it. I'm still adjusting to the keyboard and everything but this notebook is pretty amazing thus far. I've only had it for say a half hour so I can hardly make a major judgment about it but I really like it from what I have seen of it.

The MagSafe power cord is really neat. I was just about to peer around the side to slide it into the port when it just jumps in. I was really surprised. That'll save me about half a second everyday! Now that can really add up! ;)

I'll post pictures later, for now I'm going to work on making room for this bad boy... or girl... on my desk. It sure will be a lot easier for me to develop XbA when I'm working on this beautiful machine.

Photos will have to wait until tomorrow. I have really poor lighting in my room, so I'll just take them in the day. Now time to transfer my entire iTunes library! :/

Oh, and I really love Spotlight. I don't have it on my iBook because it's an older version of Mac OS and I have to say I love it. It's actually brought me inspiration for a feature for Xbox America.

The Itunes library should not be to hard to get over, you could probably fit all your songs on one or two blank DVD's thats what I did :)

also what is spotlight? My macbook is the newest version so I might have it on there.

Yea, I might do that. I was thinking either using a dvd or two, or using my iPod. I'd imagine the dvds would probably be quicker.

Spotlight is the little blue icon in the top right with the magnifying class. It searches your hard drive instantly as you type with the results right below.

That is one awesome machine.

I found soothing today though that made me a little mad at apple inc. My grandma got me my macbook and she had final cut pro put on it. She did not buy it separate she had it installed strait from apple and........ It will not work on my laptop because it does not have a good unuff video card! Now why would apple even have the option to buy final cut pro for the macbooks if they can not use it?

Yea, that definitely sucks. I saw that Final Cut Express offer where you get it for $200 off if you buy a new mac. I thought about doing that but even if I still but it now for the regular $300 price, I'm saving more because I bought the refurbished.

I bought it from the official online Apple refurbished store (Link probably won't work because of sessions). If you go to the online Apple store, look somewhere in the lower right column by the Education Discount. There's a refurbished store. I paid $1,999 + tax, and it is the 15.4" 2.33GHz, 120gb hard drive, 2gb ram model. Or on the Apple Store MacBook Pro page, it's the middle one. It's regularly $2,499.

$500 off with a good as new system is really a great deal. The only mark I've been able to find, and I've scoured this machine, is a small streak on the space bar about half a centimeter long.

I have to ask - what is up with the HUGE amount of space between the front edge of the laptop and the keyboard itself. It seems like such a waste of space on either side of the touchpad. Are there optional speakers or something that are put there on other models?

I guess it could be your armrests as you type, but wow, it just makes that keyboard look so small. :p

The speakers are on the left and the right of the keyboard. I guess they wanted the speakers there, and this is the only way they could fit the keyboard with the speakers there on the sides. When I type I rest my wrists in those spaces but I didn't really notice until you said something.

The keyboard on it is a tad bigger, if not exactly the same as my iBook g4 and it has taken a little getting used to after using my desktop's dell keyboard for so long. On the desktop keyboard there is a space between the Caps Lock and the a key. On this keyboard I keep hitting the caps lock by accident when I'm trying to hit a. It's happening less frequently now that I've been using it for a couple days.

Still, that is a sweet rig Pasta. What is it mostly going to be used for - XbA updates? :)

I love getting new electronic toys. My wife and I picked up our new cell phones, so that is what I am going to be playing with today at work.

Lol, yea most updates will be done from it now. I'm going to be using it for most everything now. I've been working on creating a FTP server on my desktop so I can send and retrieve files while away. So far I'm really loving this setup.
