The hadron collider was activated on Wednesday Sep. 10th 2008 and the earth still exists. We did not fall into a black hole and dark matter did not overtake the Earth.

btw, that experiment happened this past wednesday. its to help them understand the Big Bang Theory more...they took these two molecules (or something) and projected them at high speeds around this thing into each other...to "recreate" the big bang theory...and alot of peple thought a black hole would form and we would die...but the scientists were all "hey, the big bang theory has been happening for millions of trillions of years (something like that) and it hasnt swallowed us all in a black hole, so why would this?"

Actually, they activated the Large Hardon Collider, but have not done the tests that people are worried about. The first high energy collisions won't occur until 6-8 weeks from now.
According to all the respectable scientists, nothing bad will happen. The press just saw the phrase "black hole," and freaked. The scientists don't expect any black holes to be created, but even if some were to be created, they'd decay immediately. Apparently, cosmic rays are constantly hitting the Earth's atmosphere with a lot more energy than the Large Hardon Collider will be sending it's protons with. Nothing bad ever happens from these cosmic rays.
After reading up on all this, I've realized I really know nothing about black holes.
