Do you get the cars automatically and can race them even if you buy with right after you start the game? or do you have to earn/win/buy them?

lameeeeeeee. looks like im using the glitch before i sign on live if i get this game. ill probably get the pack, and forget i had them. it would be nicer to just buy them in the pack and have them.
