Yeah but you might get one like I did - they just send you someone else's 360 who had other problems than the 3 rings and they didn't fix them <grrr>

the first time mine died i actually tried the towel trick, hahaha. didn't work.
wasn't doing it to save money though. i just wanted to play while waiting for my coffin.

I and sorry for your lost. but at least your 360s will be in good company with my first 360 nickname "Crooky" that passed on December 30, 2007. They will keep each other company

If you have a Play N Trade in the area they might be able to fix it for you.

Wrap it in a towel let it run for a few hours get the red lights and your now covered, they will fix it. I dont condone this action but it will save you some $$$.
I did this with one of mine and they sent me a brand new one no problem!!!

It doesn't even need to have the red rings. Just tell them it does, they don't check.... trust me, I just did that with my xbox that got E74. Told them it had the RROD and sent it to them. They just sent me a brand new console. Which is why you see two 360s in the picture of my setup I posted.

Yeah, you might be screwed there. Then again, it doesn't seem like they check anything.
I don't even think the one they sent me back was refurbished. It came with a face plate on it, when it shouldn't. The manufacture date on the back is 11-11-08, the last time I sent my xbox in I got one manufactured in 2006. Plus, its way to clean, there's not a single mark on it. My buddy just got his back as well and you can clearly tell its a refurb because of the marks on the case and such.
