Gamefly vs. Gamerang-The Showdown
02/15/08 4:23 pm | #1
So after dropping gameznflix about 2 months ago I found myself craving for some variety in my gaming life. I have decided to try out both gamefly and gamerang. I came to the decision of trying both by looking at reviews by toptenreviews.com (the actually link to the review is http://video-game-rental-review.toptenreviews.com/ ). I wanted to see who would send me the games faster and who has newer releases available for immediate shipping. I havent heard anything about gamerang but they have a distribution center one state away. On the other hand I have heard good things about gamefly. I will make my decision based on shipping times and game selection (basically if I have a newer game at the top of myQ and when I recieve it). I will take in consideration cost...but that is not as important as quality. Both are pretty close when it come to monthly memberships ($22.95 for 2 games at Gamefly vs. $24.95 for 2 games at Gamerang).
If anyone has done something like this before with these two companies let me know. I will keep you guys updated over the next couple of weeks on how the "Showdown" is unfolding.

I heard a rumour netflix might start carrying 360 and ps3 titles.

Just wanted to throw this out there. Gamefly has a rewards program and they used games are cheaper than Gamerang. Plus if you are upgrading to 3 or 4 game at a time plans, then there is a major price difference. And I also did not a see a fast return policy with Gamerang. I usually get my games from Gamefly in about two days and usually with their fast ship policy they send me a game out on average the day after I mail something back.

I have had very few issues with Gamefly, maybe one or two incidents and I have been with them since December of 2005, so I hope I have given out helpful info. The one thing that sucks, this is not Gameflys fault is when your 360 keeps goign back to repair, you still get charged for a service that you are not using, Microsoft thinks a free month of Live is an adequate gift for inconiveinces like that.

I've been a gamefly member for about I year. The rewards and the "keep it" really do pay for themselves. Recently I got Assasins Creed for $34 through "keep it".
I like your showdown idea but I'd be suprised if you get anything from them. Gamenflix is so puny compared to Gamefly. If you're thinking a couple bucks less is better, think again. They're always on the verge of going out of biz. Check out their stock GMFX it's at been at 0 and been there for a while :|
Bottom line is that Gamefly is the biggest around , has the most games, best shipping and benefits.
SNEAKmidget any links to back up this rumor about Netflx?

Exactly what I mean, that keep it rule worked for me. I got Mass effect for 32 bucks because of my discount and the different coupons I had.

Maybe there was some confusion..... I HAD gameznflix a couple months ago, and believe me I know they SUCK!!!! The Showdown is between Gamefly and GAMERANG. Gamerang has a few more distribution centers than Gamefly, which is why I'm trying them out in addition to Gamefly. Gamerang has many of the same qualities as Gamefly, for example you can also by their games used (Mass Effect is $ 38.95). For people who live on the coast of course you will get your games quick from Gamefly (distribution centers in California, Florida, and Pennsylvania), but for people who live in the middle of the US Gamerang maybe a better option with distribution centers in California, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and New Jersey. That is why Im doing the Showdown.

Gamefly will have an Austin, TX distro center open within the next month...

Gamefly continues to expand with more distribution centers. They now have three centers in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and Tampa. As Z said, they will soon open a fourth in Austin, Texas. This only means faster turnaround with getting your games back to them and receiving new ones in the mail.
Gamefly has it down to an exact science, and when you only continue to improve your product, it makes things a lot easier.

I hate gamefly!!! I was a member for over a year and had to quit cuz it was cheaper and faster to just rent locally. I could drive 15 minutes and get whatever game i wanted instead of hoping my game would be in and then having to wait a full week for gamefly to send me it. I haven't tried gamerang but i might look into it now just to see if all internet game senders are worthless like gamefly.

Oops my mistake on gamenzflix. I've never heard of gamerang before. Just check them out. Damn their site is ugly. Another gamefly copy.
But this should be an interesting experiment. My money is definitely still on Gamelfy.
Anyone check out the sweeps with live nation?
