The game itself is a mixture of Street Fighter characters and a combination of Columns and Sega Swirl. At the beginning, you will choose your character. Just like in the Street Fighter games, your character will be unique, although instead of having different moves, they will have a different way of dropping down blocks on your opponent. Remembering how each character drops blocks down on you will prove to be vital in surviving attacks, but more on that later.
The game begins with a side by side view and the two opponents characters faced off against each other. The blocks will then begin to fall at a fairly slow pace. The object of the game is to link up as many blocks of the same colors as possible. The way you get rid of the blocks is to drop a gem of the same color on top of them, thus breaking the link. The more you pair up, the more you drop on your opponent. Just like other puzzle games, doubling up breaks will give you combos, which will drop even more blocks on the opponent. If you don't happen to come across one of these blocks, a diamond dropped anywhere on the screen will instantly break every color block on your side. This will not result in as many blocks dropping on your opponent, but it helps your cause.
Visually, the game is gorgeous. This was a game that was ported from the Sega Dreamcast, but it never looked this good, thanks to the upgrade it received on the Xbox 360. The visuals are nice and clean, and the characters themselves are also slick. The game, itself, is a great time waster. You find yourself playing game after game quite a bit, and taking on opponents on Xbox Live is relatively laid back, although it can get competitive.
Cost to download this is 800 MS Points, and it's worth every last one of them. You'll find yourself losing hours at a time if you let yourself get hooked. And, let's face it, maybe you need a change up from Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4.
