Finally got a Wii

My sister's boyfriend who works at gamestop tipped me off and I finally got a Wii. Wii Sports is even better than I expected. I also picked up Zelda and Splinter Cell. I was going to get Red Steel but the guy at the store persuaded me not to. He said the controls were horrible. I'm considering returning Splinter Cell and getting Red Steel instead anyways. So far I love my Wii.

Sweet, it's about time!

I barely played them but I have to say that so far I'm not really impressed with Zelda or Splinter Cell. The graphics were horrific but maybe I'm just too used to my 360. I love Wii Sports but I don't know what other games there are for the Wii for me. Anyone have any recommendations?

Welcome to the world of Wii Pasta!
I too have given up on the thought that the Wii has great graphics. I keep telling myself that it is the fun factor.
I really enjoyed playing all the way through Zelda, but it is indeed a really long game. I really haven't completed it yet. I still need to find some more stuff.
I tried out Monkey Ball, but the game was too frustrating and nauseating.
I own Rayman, which was a nice fun diversion. It is a bunch of rail style mini games. Everything from hurling a Cow shot put style, to shooting rabbid monkeys with a plunger.
I also own Wii Sports and of Course Wii Play, and both are probably the most fun playing with others. They are more geared towards just plaing party fun.
Speaking of party, I am hoping the Mario Party 8 game coming out soon will be good.
I am thinking about picking up Super Paper Mario for this deal though..
http://www.buy.com/prod/super-paper-mario/q/loc/108/204134333.html
If you have never tried Google checkout, you can save $10 and get that game for $35 with free shipping.
I can't say that I fell in love with the Wii like everyone claims, as most games so far have really been just mini games to show the capabilities of the motion control, but looking down the road, I am hoping to find some great games. Stuff like Super Mario Galaxy, a new Metroid, Brain Academy for the Wii, etc.
Just remember the Wii is supposedly really only 2 gamecube systems inside. So, don't expect any great graphics.
(And don't forget all of the classic cube games you can play on it along with the Virtual Console stuff)

a game that you might enjoy is warioware. the fun will only last a little while so i suggest that you rent it and make sure you have people watching you play(they'll be laughing at you). its just a bunch of completely random minigames(? i don't know what to call them) that will have you using the wii controller in all sorts of ways

Yeah I made that mistake by buying red steel the controls are so messed up you move the controller up a little bit and your guy looks all the way up

Wii Sports bowling has got me confused. The ball always goes to the left unless I throw it fast enough. Is there any way to spin on the bowling ball so it goes to the right? I can only move my guy and tilt the direction he originally throws.

The Wii motion control system knows when you twist the remote. You have to bowl keeping the Wii Remote in a straight line in front of you. The ball will spin to the left or right depending on how you twist the remote as you are moving your arm forward.
I found it easiest to keep it straight by following all the way through with your forward bowling motion up above your head. It seems to keep you as straight as possible.
If you keep having problems curving it to the left angle your bowler to the right before you start the bowling motion. I think you hold down one of the buttons and it angles your bowler before you start moving.

No, it's just if you tap A. Then you press left or right on the d-pad.

I know you can move, and aim before hand but I'm pretty sure there's a way to add spin by using your wrist. This wii bowling article talks about twisting the controller to the direction.

Yeah, I put a ton of spin on the ball on purpose. Aim to the right, on the second to farthest arrow away and when you let go of the ball, turn your wrist completely over. It works for me almost every time and has helped me in real bowling too.

Really? When I try turning my whole wrist, it doesn't really do anything...maybe my Wiimote is broken, lol. But when I try to put no spin, the ball goes half-a-lane to the left. Oh well

The same thing happens to me. I think it's supposed to have spin when you twist, but I can never get it to work.
