That, my friend, was indeed the Firelance Event. It is funny though how it is possible that you see nothing but Alien Power Cells and the FL (if you have dogmeat or if you have good eyes) after the crash. No ship parts or any other scenery objects. It seems that the ship disintegrates.

well, i might have, i can't remember. if i did i killed him or he died.
either way, i never even used the alien blaster that i did find.
i stashed it away in my house, thinking i'd use it later but i never needed it.
