FIFA08 to Host 10-Player Online Matches
Five-on-five play comes later via free downloadable update.
Along with today's confirmation from the Leipzig Games Convention that FIFA Soccer 08 will run at 60 frames per second on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, EA Sports has revealed that both versions will play host to Be a Pro: Online Team Play, a downloadable add-on that allows for five-on-five online matches over Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network.
Be a Pro: Online Team Play will be made available as a free content update six to eight weeks following the retail release of FIFA Soccer 08. The new mode will put players into a fixed role on the field, using real-time pointers and a unique camera perspective to simulate the sensation of playing a position and contributing to a team. Teams can be made up of five gamers from anywhere in the world, whether friends or random passers-by in the online lobby. A.I. players will fill out the rest of the roster, but future FIFA iterations may eliminate that need altogether
