Well, it looks to have finally happened. We have heard and seen signs previously (Over priced GR:AW and BFME content; Chromehounds consumables) and knew it would only be a matter of time.

Mark down October 16th, 2006 as the day that Xbox Live Marketplace officially turned into a Black Market.

On this day, Electronic Arts and Microsoft teamed up to present the Xbox 360 community with the option to download five Tiger Woods Pro Tour '07 pieces of content that will change the way (again) people play video games. Gone will be the blood, sweat, tears and elation after spending hours building your character and unlocking items for it.

Now all you have to do is pony up a few bucks and Voila, 30+ hours of gameplay become obsolete and you are ready to rock and roll the online world.

Admittedly, I am writing this piece without all the facts. Such as can the items be unlocked in game still? Will the downloadable content allow achievements to be earned without earning these items in-game items? Will these downloads give a decided edge in online gameplay to those that can fork over the extra money vs. those that can't or won't?

Until we get the game in our hands on Wednesday, we probably wont know the answers to those questions.

But what we do know is that EA has essentially created the single biggest shortcut in gaming history, and it is all available for the cool price of 1140 Marketplace points ($14.25 U.S.)

Please don't tell me that you can earn achievements without having to actually play through the game; cause gold farming just isn't cool.

I checked the achievement list and there is none directly tied to unlocking/downloading any of these. However, it provides a decided advantage in how quickly you can create and beef up you profile in the game for online or individual play.

I hope online is seperate from your individual play.

These are usually what you see in games as cheat codes. It looks to me like they're just trying to get you to pay for your cheats now. Great idea from a financial point of view for EA.
