Indeed.
My Elite red ringed and Cody's did as well. I bought a newer Arcade as a backup and I haven't had a problem with it. (knock on wood) The new Jasper chip is supposed to help with the RRoD. Elites are not necessarily built with the Jasper chip, but all newer consoles are.

Some of the elites were built with the newer chipsets in secret. Take the Halo 3 360 for example that had a (at the time) newer chipset included with a few of the models. I had one, had the 360 for 2 years without a problem...then it got stolen, fucking luck eh? Get a console that lasts and it gets stolen.
Well hopefully it ringed the day after for whoever took it, LOL!

no,I wanted the elite for the big 120 HDD, color, hdmi, it just bugs me that after how many years they still fail and such a high rate
i think ms makes them fail on purpose, just to make more money
