E3 Cancelled?

Since my flight back to Seattle is delayed (thanks Alaska) I decided to catch up on my blog reading (thanks to the Sprint EVDO wireless card.) The big news that ripping across the gaming boards-n-blogs is this story over at Joystiq that E3 is cancelled. The story looks legit, so well have to see how this plays out once the new week kicks in tomorrow. I know a lot of readers here have been to E3 in the past, so what do you think of this? I am still digesting what this means to the industry as I await confirmation, so lets see what happens. Ok, back to editing this weeks show.

Yet again, money. I mean isnt it enough that millions of geeks a year allocate their whole time off work to go to this event, if not spend every minute at home watching a blow-by-blow on G4? I mean what the hell do these producers want? For us to shove cash in their hands and tell them to keep it going because their doing good. This money that their spending is to attrach OUR attention, simply because we are the one who will be buying the games and advertising them to our friends. And apparently since there arent millions of people at their stand during E3, they feel like their not the only ones there, and guess what....THE'RE NOT!!! OMFG all about money man! BS to the MAX......BS!!!

The problem with this is that the industry is that it is it's own worst enemy. E3 is affordable, if they dont get into a pissing match trying to outdo one another with technology, booths and babes....

well they just focus on getting our attention and making sure were there the whole time participating. While you are true Z the problem with that is they need to differenciate from each other and have enough flair to get our attentions and keep it.

True enough, but they shouldn't bitch about the price tag when they are the reason it is so high.

Its like the old NHL (before cap). The owners constantly complained about not making money, but they couldn't help themselves every year when free agency came and gave out ludicrous contracts.

Same thing for E3. My guess is the little software companies that make crap games are the ones with the issue. If thats the case, the show is better off without them and their junk.

If Microsoft is smart, they will jump in and create their own spectacular that showcases MS and its related developers. That would force Sony and Nintendo to follow suit or be left in teh dust when it comes to exposure.

But i like how E3 was everything under one room, while it would be cool to have a MS3 a S3 and a N3, E3 combined them all so that you could go to 1 place for all games and game related products. And i agree that they should just do without all the crap related products. But E3 was sweet because of everything it intailed, all the both babes, the promise for new and better accessories, and the showcase of the nex-gen of gaming. I wouldnt want to have to go to 3 different websites for 3 different gaming higer ups to showcase their stuff and be completely biased. I like how when E3 rolls around everyone jumps on the wagon to get the scoop of it, and i really liked it. I just this its BS thats all,money is everything now adays, apparently more so than good quality games. tisk tisk tisk
