Well, I'm not a Beatles OR Metallica fan, and I'd say I probably like the same number of songs from each band... however from a marketing standpoint the Beatles are MUCH more marketable- probably more so than any currently recording band today. If you include how many changes the band went through over the years, the way they evolved with the times... It makes sense why they would choose the Beatles. Plus most current bands are popular in a specific genre, while the Beatles would appeal to fans of many genres, and of all ages.

The only way they could have released a game that would have had more marketing oomph would be a timely release of "Karaoke Revolution: Michael Jackson."

I agree with this 100%... and I can totally see a Michael Jackson game in the near future. :baffled:

The Beatles are a historical band, but of course this band will appeal to the older crowds ( not that anything is wrong with that, older people can still rock out! ) I would pick Metallica over the Beatles but the Beatles are still a great band

I have a few redemption codes left over from the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) this year for Avatar clothing for The Beatles Rock Band that I am giving away on Twitter if anyone is interested. There are separate codes for both male and female avatars. Here's a photo of the card....

Just for clarification, there are no purchases required to get the male or female redemption code for your avatar. Click on the photo above to see the back of the card in a bigger format.

The Beatles transend the generation gap. There is no 'older crowds' when it comes to The Beatles.

Think about it. How many people are playing Rock Band that seen The Beatles live in concert? Probably not as many as those picking up the game and downloading the tracks on Xbox LIVE.

Just saying...

I'm not really agreeing with this fully, but I do agree that it is an off genre for this generation. Kids now a days like miley cyrus and all that other garbage. They're most likely like "what who's that?" Shame really. I'd choose the Beatles any day over Metallica.

I REALLY have to disagree with that, the beatles are one of my favorite bands, and i'm 14, so yeah, but i understand what you're sayin a lot of ppl my age probably don't know the beatles, which is kinda sad.

I'm glad you disagree with this Bubbles. You proved my point about this game transcending the generational gap that is non-existent when it comes to the music of The Beatles.

I couldn't agree more. I have my parents to thank for my love of the Beatles music. My mother was in fifth grade when they played on the Ed Sullivan Show. I remember listening to old cassette tapes my dad recorded off the radio the night John Lennon was shot and all they played for days was Beatles and his solo stuff. I played the game online last night with some teenage kid who said his grandma bought the game for his so she could just sit there and watch him play it. He said he was never really into them before but really liked the game and was developing a respect for their music.

This game isn't just another music/rhythm game for playing songs, it's about the cultural phenomenon that was Beatlemania.

Well now, there is probably the best write-up for The Beatles: Rock Band sitting above from IRiSH OH that I have read yet on a forum-based site.

In fact, it has inspired me to giveaway two of my codes for The Beatles: Rock Band avatar clothes; one for a male avatar and one for a female avatar. You let me know why you think you deserve one by following the rules outlines below:

Here are the requirements....

1.) Let me know if you want the male or female Beatles T-Shirt code,
2.) Then tell me your top 5 favorite Beatles songs,
3.) The first two people (male and female) to match even 4 of my favorite songs in any order, will win a Beatle's avatar shirt.

ENTER HERE: http://xboxamerica.com/threads/The-Beatles-RB-Contest-favorite-songs-ever/last-post

Now how cool is that!

1 - Well said
2 - IMO, I just dont think in terms of a gaming medium, that the beatles would truly be more marketable then a band like metallica.
Yes, they may be the more "historic" band. And yes, they had more #1's. But in terms of the average gamer, more are acquainted with hard rock/metal like metallica, who has rocked for decades and had MANY #1's themselves.
Think about the drum pattterns/guitar riffs, how much challenge can beatles offer in comparison to a title like metallica?
Will this game make the 10 million worth the get the rights worth it? I cant imagine so. But time will tell.

Oh, but I do think the fact it is RB beatles will play a large factor, as more people are into RB now as the quality in RB is superior to the GH franchise, as activision has rammed so much GH down our throats its watere down the desire for each following entry

Oh, and I must say im VERY surprised to see all this beatles love. Not that it is a bad thing as we all have musical tastes, but didnt expect it TBH. Maybe my friends just dont like "classic" music enough so no one bought it ;p

I cant wait to see the sales on it though in comparison to metallica

Lastly, rock on.
