Banned Xbox, will they ban me again?
11/18/09 3:56 pm | #1
I had a modded 360, and got banned a few weeks ago. A few friends of mine who also got banned bought new xbox's and HD's, yet they got banned again a few days later. I'm wondering if there's a reason for this or are they just being greedy MS? I really don't wanna spend my money on a new one just to have to it banned, so any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

They ban your console for it being modded, if you buy a new UNMODDED console there is no reason for you to get banned again. If you hop on another modded console it could get banned, but I haven't heard of consoles being banned when they are not modded.

I suppose it would be possible it's an IP ban. My friend bought a brand spankin' new 360 and HD from Gamestop, recovered his tag on it and everything. A few days later he was banned, which is just not cool.

well, if they were using the same gamertag as the one they used on your mod, then since the tag was asosiated with modding, that might be why. in any case, the moral of this story is DONT DO ILLIGAL MODDING!

I wholeheartedly agree, not really worth it and I regret doing it.

Maybe Microsoft could be contacted in regards to this. I thought when they did the console ban that certain gamertags would be banned as well. However it seems silly that if someone had a console that they purchased used that was modded (the people who got screwed) that MS would ban another console they used.
Maybe call MS and see if you are screwed or if you should just buy a new xbox 360 and start a new gamertag. I don't know exactly what is going on, but I would think your friend should do the same and see if he can get the console unbanned if he did buy it new, it doesn't seem right, even if he was a modder before. Maybe it had to do with the recovery of his gamertag, I personally would have bought a memory card and transferred over my GT from the old xbox, its what I do now to go between my two 360s, recovering my GT takes over an hour and a half now....stupid high gamerscore.

well as you know, my last two consoles were banned for being modded.
they both got replaced with a new pro and arcade model, and both are running good. your buddies may have gotten banned, for other hacks to their gamertag and all.

This is my personal opinion. I honestly think that microsoft should completely go full assault on anything associated with the banned console. I hate modding even if it is a simple mod. Microsoft is not being greedy with this they are sending a message. You can mod your console all you want but dont expect us to let you use your modded system on our network. Its why im turned off from playstation. PSN is a horribly run system that modders and hackers run rampant. Maybe that has changed since I was on it but it was bad. It sucks that your box got banned but truly READ the terms and agreements that come with things you spend lots of money on. Im pro microsoft on this move. Sorry if I offend anyone and I hope I don't get flamed for stating my opinion

I agree with ya man. No flaming here. I did hear that Microsoft was getting sued tho because they held of banning and waited for mw2 to come out before the huge wave of bannings they did.

You are absolutely right, Pride. I was of a completely different mind when I did the mod process, now I wish I could take it back. I'm just going to buy a new 360 and HD, so legitimate from now on, and hope for the best. If I'm banned, than I guess the ride is over for xGrenade.

well xgrenade, if they ban you again on a non hacked xbox, send it into them with some sort of note and a like email from xbox. They will probably look through itm unban you, and then your free to game!

If only it was that simple. Microsoft does not un-ban consoles, from what I read on the msxbox forums. I might just be forced to start fresh a new GT, which would suck majorly, since I just hit 40k.

people who keep getting banned, have a huge history of doing other sorts of hacks or modifications, along with their gamertag. For those who just had a flashed drive modded box, and got banned, you just buy a new xbox, recover and your good to go.
I just think your buddies or whoever did something they are not telling you.
First thing I did with my new consoles was register them and erased my profiles from my existing hard drives, then just re recovered the profiles from live. I have been gaming on live with my new systems with zero issues.
