Just curious and wondering what everyone thinks here, what do you all think about the current economic problem. Do you think it will affect the gaming industry?

no i can't see it impacting gaming much. gaming will surpass(if it hasn't already this year) movies as the # 1 form of entertainment.

I think it will hurt the smaller companys and I see more mergers and buy outs in the near future.

It will hurt those of us who have to buy their own games and systems. Now I know this will really get some people upset, but here goes. Those kids out there that work and do buy their own games might cut back.
But, those that live off of mom and dads dime wont slow down at all. They will continue to expect the new games when they come out.
I had a pretty decent list of games I wanted, now I am down to maybe one or two. Of course my other hobbies cut into game playing, but I still will not be buying much of anything over the next year or two.

I would usually find a way every now and again to splurge on new titles, but with the current economic situation I restricted myself to one new title between now and Christmas.
Now if I wanna get something new I gotta go to either Platinum Hits titles or wait until a great game from 2007 drops into the $30 range.

ya...gas here in the suburbs of chicago (here for college..most people in chicago think that chicago is the state of illinois...anyways) is still 2.90. in chicago its probably around 3 buck a gallon. you could blame most of that on our dumb ass governor.
