Anyone else hear about Amazon MP3? It\'s a online music downloads service that Amazon just launched a public beta for. It doesn\'t seem like a big deal at first, except that all downloads are MP3\'s with no digital rights management restrictions.

This plus Apple\'s ambition to remove DRM from their online store might mean a new era in music downloads. I can\'t stand the DRM restrictions and I will buy a lot more music online now.

Also, Amazon MP3 has some lower prices than the iTunes Music Store.

DRM is the main reason I don't use iTunes and will not buy an iPod (that, and the fact that they are rediculously over-priced compared to other PMPs on the market). DRM free music probably won't sway me, but I know it would convince a lot of people to start using or continue using iTunes.

I can't stand iTunes, tbo. I have found that MS 'Urge' (I think...) is pretty good with a comparible library. And, the Windows Media Center interface seems much easier to manage. I found it much easier to sync with my mp3 devices via Urge and WMP then with iTunes.

So yeah, I am excited because it will make it much easier to use the Windows Media Center on mt tv and 360.
