I was looking at some of the older games that I use to be shits and giggles over, I was looking at Halo 2...Fable...some of those older games that were for the original XBOX as well as the playstation One and 2 platforms. I may not be a "true" gamer in some peoples eyes for saying this, that or I am more of a gamerscore whore than I thought I was, haha.

I can't get interested in games that don't have achievements, haha. Some games really hold my attention for the xbox, I can still play fable no big deal...But as for other games, I just can't seem to bring myself to keep my attention focused on the older games before the 360. The achievement system was a very brilliant marketing ploy that mircrosoft brought up because now when I play a game, I check the achievements first to see what I need to work for along the way. Sometimes I goof and don't look, thats what happened with Open Season, LOL!...I feel embarrassed on that game, haha.

The reason for this thread is I wanted other peoples opinions. Does anyone else seem to get more interested in games because of the achievements?

I was planning on buying a Playstation 3 for the PS3 console based games, and the games that come to the 360 I would play for the 360 for the achievements....But I don't even think I am going to do that now.

So....opinions please

I own all three current consoles. I buy all games for my Xbox unless it is a Wii or PS3 exclusive because I get achievements for playing them. I recently picked Transformers back up to see if I could find all the stupid little cubes for 75 point (I can't

)

I bought the Psychonauts xbox original and though it is a great game, though I have trouble picking it up to play again with no achievements.

Edit: Drool over my 1000 on Open Season, Kidd.

i am the same but i will not go buy a gay game with easy GS just because i like games with it

I like ya kidd, but please don't call achievements a PLOY! We, as gamers have always sought "achievements" Whether I can beat Super Mario Bros. with one guy, or I can eat every ghost in pacman with all four power pellets!

Microsoft just put a name on it, and gave us a way to prove that we are bad enough to DO IT! Other than bringin' people to your house and beating games in front of your friends!

We are still gamers!!

That being said, I personally have put more hours into the Dragon Quest series than I have actually owned my 360! And there is no 360 DQ game!! lol

I am a score waffle! There is good and bad to that! I'm on the crest of 40k, but sometimes I envy gamers with a 13,000 score. They have not had to play some crap games for the sake of getting score! They are playing games for the sake of being game players! They don't worry about how many points they can get! They just want to play a good game!!

I want to get to 40k before I can settle down and play Starwars, Fable2, Fallout, Infinate Undiscovery, GOW2, etc. Games that don't give me immediate gamerscore satisfaction like Avatar and Open season. But will that ever be enough? Damn you Microsoft! Damn you!

I'm the same way Kidd. I had a PS2 and tried to play a few of my older games that I truly loved. I remember playing and replaying Manhunt...but now I simply get bored with the game. I keep thinking that a little message will pop up on the bottom of my screen saying "Achievement Unlocked". Without it, it seems like my time is being wasted with just playing games.

I think xbox 360 has turned EVERYONE into score whores lol. I love seeing that acheivement unlocked thing flash across your screen with its little noise But i still love games for gameplay and "TRY" my best to not get hung up on GS but its hard lol
