1. What do you think about adding 'Inbox' or 'Personal Messaging' link to the homepage? When I get notification of a PM, it does not take me to a new window (I assume pop up blocker is doing this) and I have to go into the User CP page. Any way to remove the pop up system and go with a graphic like yahoo mail where it drops a count of new mails (all in red parenthesis) next to the Inbox label? Example would look like: "Inbox (3)" This could help promote usage of the whole PM system.

2. Can the sort bar be added to the top of the screens as well? In the new 'Game Releases' page especially that would be helpful.

3. Have you thought about a "records" or "history" section for the gamescores? a) We could record the date and username of first person to certain levels (5,000; 10,000; etc..). b) record milestone members (First, 50th, hundreth, etc) c) Also, maybe we could add a new column that shows weekly gamescore rankings for previous week (Like the Billboard Music Charts) and Peak position (highest ranking achieved)?

How are your Oracle database skills? LOL

Here is a link to Billboard as an example, although this format is gaudy.

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/charts/chart_display.jsp?g=Singles&f=The+Billboard+Hot+100

4. What do you think about creating a way to allow us to add in what games we own on our profile?

Thanks,
Z

All great suggestions. I'll get started now... Today was one of the few days of winter I'm happy to live in the snow belt, so I have time to work on it. I'm also going to be working on some of the forum images (like the new thread and reply ones). Some of them are pretty horrific.

Ok the PM thing is on the main page... If you don't want the pop up notification you can turn it off in your preferences.

#2 and #4 are next on the to do list. I'm saving #3 for last because it is the most challenging. I have to do some additional work on the cron file (updates scores every 15 minutes thing) to make it run faster. Each time its taking between a minute to a minute and a half.

Question about the games profile thing.

We have a few possiblities here.

1. We just provide a textbox for users to describe what games they own. It's very simple, but unorganized and unsearchable.

2. In your release date control panel we also have another table for games already released. Then users can select which games they own. This approach is more complex, but is organized and can be searched. This also requires maintenence for upkeeping the table.

3. In the user control panel, if there are no games then you can insert the name of the game you own, and it will be added to a database table. Then when other users go to select their games, they can select that game, or input their own if it's not on the list and it will be inserted into the table. This is still complex, but requires no maintenance besides correcting misspellings or capitalization mistakes in game names, can be confusing for the users, is searchable, and organized.

Opinions?

I like # 2 the best. Is there a way in the control panel I could just click a button (like how the delete currently works) and have it move to the second database?

I have no problem with the upkeep.

Ok cool, I'll work on getting this done, and I will have the feature to let you move them from one table to the other.

We probably don't need all that gobblety-gook from BB, Gamestop and EB when it moves. Just move the name and allow me to enter the date it was released. Can you think of anything else we would want?

Pasta, check your Inbox on XO. I also think we need should maybe have a specific section in the forums for all the major cities in Ohio (Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, etc.) where people from those cities could chat about what's going on there or special gaming events or promotions in that area. Just a thought.

We might not even need the date released, because what would we do with it? I suppose we could add a section to the game releases displaying all games out now, but we could just take name and thats it.

Done in the game releases page, and the leaderboard. Sorry it took awhile.
