On number 6, instead of "bridging" the connection, you should "share" the wireless connection. This will allows any device daisy-chained off the laptop to be able to access the net while still allowing the laptop to know that the Wireless connection is the Net/Data port and the Ethernet port is another device.
This is what I do in hotels that require a daily authorization to access the WiFi and don't allow the 360 to do it.
