Ok so, you tell them you want to buy X months of Live Gold, they charge you $1 for ech month you say you want to buy then, and then after that term is up they auto-renew at regular rates?

Pretty sure how it works is you will just get the 1 month of Gold for $1. The catch is if you don't cancel the renewal it will do the $7.99/month for one month renewal until you cancel.
I signed up for the $1 deal and it didn't extend my Live subscription. When I manage it online all it says is that it WILL renew for $1 for 1 month. Really doubt the system will let you get X months for a buck each.
As I will probably forget to turn it off next year when it renews I will probably have to forgo the $1 deal and just turn off the auto renewal system so I don't get hosed later.
