Prey 2 Cancellation Rumors Debunked

For those who were interested in picking up Prey 2 and heard rumors of the game being cancelled, fear not! Bethesda announced today that although the game has been delayed, it has not been scrapped. Prey 2 is being developed by Human Head Studios, which also made the first game.


Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.






If you haven't heard about Prey 2....well....it doesn't appear to be much like its predecessor other than the race of aliens present in both games. For those who don't know about the game feel free to check out the official website (although not much is available about the game).

Personally I'm all for developers/publishers delaying a game's release to help improve the quality over publishing a glitchy game then trying to fix it via patches...

I really enjoyed the original Prey; I haven't heard much about Prey 2 aside from the rumors about its development being shelved. And I agree; I'm all for holding back a game to make sure its up to par.

Absolutely. I would rather have a delay, than a broken bug and glitch infested piece of garbage. I didn't really like that first one, but I think the storyline itself has merit.

Doesn't every game feel repetitive after 3 hours? I also didn't care for the first Prey but I'll look into the second one of course.
