UPDATE:
Apple Corps, MTV Games and Harmonix have just announced a brand new music video game featuring the music of The Beatles. The companies emphasized that this is not an expansion pack for Rock Band or a Rock Band-branded game. This is a brand new game entirely focused on The Beatles that will take players all the way through The Beatles' first album (Please Please Me) to the last one (Abbey Road).
Alex Rigopulos of Harmonix revealed they have been working for months in this game (parties involved started talks 17 months ago) and he defined this project as a one-lifetime opportunity.
Giles Martin, the son of Beatles producer George Martin (aka "the Fifth Beatle"), will serve as music producer on The Beatles music video game. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison representing their husbands, have provided their input on this project.
The companies won't confirm the platforms The Beatles music video game will ship for or if new gaming gear will be released along with the game. However, MTV and Harmonix confirmed the game will be released in holiday of next year.
Jeff Jones, CEO of Apple Corps, confirmed this is an exclusive deal signed with MTV Games, so there won't be Beatles song coming to Activision's Guitar Hero.
Well, Rock Band: The Beatles bitch slaps Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and the upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica, but Activision still has an ace up its sleeve:
