Netflix to stream movies to PS3 and Xbox 360 users.
Fresh on the heels of its Blu-Ray exclusivity bombshell, Netflix is allegedly pumping customers for information regarding a movie streaming service for Xbox 360 and the PS3.
In an email to subscribers, the rental giant asked if TV shows and movies were types of media they would like streamed to their Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.
Netflix also outlined how the process would work for each console.
"Now you can watch movies from Netflix instantly by using your Internet-connected Playstation 3. Simply insert a special Netflix disc into your PS/3 to enable instant movie streaming. The disc is available from Netflix for a one-time fee of $3," the survey said.
And for the Xbox 360: "Now you can watch movies from Netflix instantly by using your existing Xbox LIVE account. You can choose from over 7,000 movies and TV series, and your choice starts playing on your TELEVISION in as little as 30 seconds."
The survey promised that no additional fees will befall subscribers that choose to watch movies via their Xbox 360 or PS3.
"Watching is included in your Netflix plan. There are no extra fees and there are no limits on how much you can watch," the survey said.
Although still unconfirmed by Netflix, streaming movie downloads for game consoles wouldn't be a complete surprise. In January, Netflix said subscribers should expect a movie download service for Mac computers in 2008.
This should be pretty cool if this turns out to be true
