I'm suprised borderlands isn't on the list. Everyone was playing it plus my best buy could never keep it in stock

I don't think a list comprised of top games based on sales should be called "best games."
That's misleading. I know that a "best games" list would be subjective, but I have a hard time believing that many people would say that DJ hero was a better game than Borderlands.
I know that anyone that shows distaste for Batman AA ends up fighting, so I won't even go there!

While you might not agree with this list, this list is attempting to aggregate the opinions of millions of Xbox players. Sales is one of the few ways to do that. The games that have the most sales are obviously the most widely popular.

I probably won't get to all the good '09 games until the middle of next year. But if I had to pick my favorite game so far this year it would be Batman: AA. It was one of the few games I've played recently where I finished it and started it back up at the beginning and upped the difficulty.

I see great games on this list but I got to agree, at least a little bit, with Durtie and Evol. Yes, sales will directly reflect popularity, but only to a certain extent. How many of you have bought a game on it's release day, because of the hype it got, only to be greatly disappointed? I have a few friends that have bought games only to take them back a few days later, disappointed in it.
However, if these retailers figures took that into account, then I will withdraw my comment.
Just to help what I was trying to say: Game X sells 100 copies at launch. Say 40 of those people decide it sucks and take it to Game Stop. Then theoretically, only 60 of those sales should count. See what I'm trying to say homeys?

I don't disagree that the games on the list sold the best. I just think that the thread title should reflect that. I'm not losing sleep over it, keep it.
I just think that if a game that is inferior sells more, it doesn't make it better. It just means that people are willing to buy crap. That doesn't impress me.
Also, maybe you should put that this is MSNBC's best 10 games.

Completely agree with this.
