Interview: March Community Spotlight: Hektic Juggalo
XbA Username Hektic Juggalo
Gamertag: Hektic Juggalo
Could you tell us where you are from and your age?
I am 20 years old, and hail from the Bay State...No gay jokes, please. I live around the New Bedford Area, not too far from Cape Cod.
Would you mind telling us a little about yourself?
I am currently a student at Bristol Community College, with plans to graduate with my Associate's degree this May. I am majoring in Computer Networking, and currently have a Network Administrator\Computer Technician position at the Fairhaven School Department. I manage the network in three buildings: The Middle School and two elementary schools. After graduation I plan to further my education, but at this point am not sure of which college I will be going to. I have a wonderful girlfriend of four years; high school sweethearts as it were. We plan to move in together at some point in the mid to near future, but are both currently focused on school as much as possible.
How did you find XboxAmerica?
I saw an ad for a Gears of War tournament, on Gaming Nexus I believe. It linked to this site, so I registered, got my @$$ whooped in the tourney first round by the winning team, and have stuck around ever since.
Favorite restaurant?
Unfortunatley, I am on the run a lot so I only really get fast food. My girlfriend and I try to make a point of going out to dinner somewhere different every Saturday. For favorite restaurant, I would have to say Fire + Ice. For those that haven't heard about it, it is a buffet style restaurant, with a huge round grill in the middle of the place. All the food is raw; you go pick what you want (meats, pasta, veggies, etc.), pick a sauce (teriyaki, alfredo), then go to the grill and they cook it for you right there. They make you burgers, subs, and everything. Pretty awesome. If you are ever in the Providence, RI area, I highly suggest checking it out.
Most famous person you have met?
I don't get to meet too many famous people. I guess it would have to be Amy Lee, the lead singer from Evanescence. I shook her hand and she signed my CD (an Original copy of their first CD, the one before Fallen). She was floored that I had a copy
Person you would most like to have dinner with?
I think it would be amazing to spend the evening with Brian Warner (a.k.a. Marilyn Manson); he would make for some amazing intellectual conversation (for those of you that have seen him rip apart O'Reilly). And you know he can throw an amazing party.
Who is hotter, Francine Smith (American Dad) or Lois Griffin (Family Guy)?
Lois Griffin: Not big on blondes, and if you've ever seen the toad-licking episode, you know another reason why
PC or MAC?
PC: I've used PCs all my life. I know enough Mac to get by, but I cannot stand how they integrate with other OSs (they don't). Plus, there is not really any colleges around here that support Mac, so all of my training has been strictly on PCs (Windows, Linux, Novell, etc).
How long you been an active gamer?
I have been an active gamer for...has to be over fifteen years. I remember getting Super Nintendo when it was released back in the day. I am also told by my Mom that I would play Tetris and Bubble Bobble on regular Nintendo before I could talk. It was meant to be!
What is the story behind your Gamertag?
Two-fold I guess: Hektic was the previous name that Monoxide, one half of Psychopathic Record's Twiztid, used in his original group House Of Krazees way back before Psychopathic Records even existed. Juggalo, because I am a fan of Psychopathic Records. In retrospect, I would have now kept the Juggalo out because of the stigma attatched to it. Many people see it and immediatley think I'm a complete dumb-ass and that it pisses me off if they talk smack about ICP: It does not. Everyone calls me Hektic; that has since become my real-life nickname.
Favorite game genre?
Some years ago I would have answered with a resounding RPG and moved on. However, I find myself without the time to invest 1000 hours into one videogame anymore. Shooters have taken a special place in my heart now. I still play the occasional RPG, but it takes me much longer (still haven't beaten Blue Dragon).
Favorite 360 game?
Now there's a tough one. Out of all the great games that have come out, I'm going to have to say Gears Of War. Gears was the first game I truly got addicted to (never got into Halo 2 folks). It raised the bar in terms of what to expect with co-op play, multiplayer, graphics and everything else. I played that game almost a year straight before I pried it from the disc tray.
All-time favorite game on any platform?
I'm going to have to say Final Fantasy Tactics for the Playstation: I spent months playing the hell out of that game. Now I'm going through it all over again on the PSP, but I still prefer the original.
Xbox 360 game you are looking most forward too?
There are so many; out of all the anticipated releases of the year, I am currently eagerly awaiting Rainbow Six Vegas 2
How often do you play multiplayer on Xbox Live?
I would say 3 - 5 times a week. I usually end up playing a little bit of Live, even if I turn on the 360 with the sole intention of playing a single-player game.
What type of Live Gamer are you?
I am fairly quite unless I am with someone I know...or drunk. I don't normally say too much.
What does your Gamerscore mean to you?
It didn't mean too much to me when I first got my 360 at launch. To me, it stands as a testament to my gaming career on the 360; no more, no less.
Best in-game accomplishment?
Out of everything, I would have to say that completing COD4 on Veteran, including Mile High Club. Now that was rewarding.
If you could lift 5 things from existing games to make the ultimate game, what games and what parts?
1. Multi-player system of COD4
2. Cover aspect of RB6V
3. Gripping story of BioShock
4. The Depth of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
5. Adictiveness of Super Smash Brothers
What one game would you give up a body part for to have brought to the Xbox 360?
I would love to see Metal Gear Solid 4 on the 360. I am a huge fan of the MG series, and Guns of the Patriots may be the only reason I buy a PS3.
One thing you would like to change about anything related to Xbox 360?
I would like to see group Private Chat, where you can have people all playing different games chatting together.
What can be done to improve XboxAmerica?
I would like to see more community projects, which I am trying to push with XbA Nights and ressurecting Community Spotlight.
