Community Spotlight: PSORaine & TheEVOL1
Hektic: Well guys, first off thanks for taking the time to do this with me. For those that don't know, you guys originally met through XbA, correct? How did that come about, if you don't mind my asking?
Raine: I'm going to let Evol start this one... This is a story I didn't even hear for a few months... I think in June he told me this.
Evol: Well, I was at work one night, and Phatcodylee started reading some blog out loud. I thought it was awesome and I was very intrigued. I was already a member of the site as a leaderboard hound, but Raine's blog had me on the forums in no time at all. I met a lot of interesting people, not the least of all, Raine! I found her sense of humor and writing style incredible. After one Shout from her to let me know that we were born the same year, it wasn't long before we seemed to be searching each other out! (to the chagrin of many people who called us trolls! )
R: I'm blushing! Not many people have replied to my "hi!" in their welcome thread with extravagant compliments about my writing! Talking to Evol has always been like talking to myself (without the stigma of being called insane) which I've always enjoyed! So yeah... things kind of went from there.
H: Aw, that is a romantic story if ever there was one Do you game together often? Are their fights over who gets what game, or does purchasing two games come standard? What type of games do you guys like to play together the most? What's your gaming setup like? Evol's got the big 50'' plasma and Raine gets the 19'' LCD, right? ... I can dream, right? In my house I'm lucky if my gf will let me picture in picture the wii fit on the 65'' screen, lol.
R: Well, we don't game together as much as we'd like, I think we played more before we lived together! Unfortunately, there just aren't that many multi-player games that we like, since neither of us is really into shooters. We'd play more arcade games together, but my 360 died recently, and I haven't gotten another yet. Actually, we take turns on the big TV for the most part, my 32" lcd (which I will gladly play on when I get it!) is in the shipment of things from Germany, so I'm stuck on Evol's 56" He's very good about sharing... We got a little TV for my son, but I'm not playing on that thing! It's AWFUL!!!
H: Aw, just wait until your son wants a 56'' of his own! So you have children? Do they game with you as well?
R: I have a son, (GT= FuzzyRoxas) who games (and joins the GS challenges on XBA when he's not grounded ), and a daughter who lives with her Dad most of the year. Evol has no kids, but Roxas keeps us both busy!
E: Roxas loves to play, and we're both working hard to turn him into a mini-waffle, (mmm..... mini-waffles!) but he can't stop playing, talking about or acting out Left4dead! lol He's a work in progress, I guess!
H: That's the second time today I have been hungry for waffles Do you guys share any other interests together outside of gaming? What do each of you like to do in your spare time? For work?
E: Well, as most of you know, I am a drummer. I have been playing drums for almost 20 years now. I've been in several bands through the years, and I'd have to say that the coolest thing I have been a part of is when my band, Eugene Iowa, was on tour, we had a chance to rock the stage at CBGB's in New York City! That was unreal! For work, I am a lead Process Technician at Revere Plastic Systems. We are one of the largest injection molding plants, capacity wise, in North America. I pretty much troubleshoot problems with molding machines.
R: What Evol forgot to mention is he also plays poker competitively, and has participated in WSOP. He's teaching me how to play... I can pretty much kick his ass already. As far as my interests, I've been singing for as long as I can remember and took lessons for 12 years. I like to go on myspace anonymously and posts karaoke songs... I also read. A LOT. Whenever I can, actually. Reading is my first choice over gaming. I don't have a job as fascinating as Evols... /dripping sarcasm... Actually, I don't have a job at all, but that will change soon, as we just got a car. I'm a full time student also, and the coolest thing is that when I'm doing homework I can bounce my thoughts off of Evol and he always knows something about what I'm doing. He's just this huge encyclopedia that I don't have to reference at the end of my reports!
H: Wow, so let that make everyone aware; when Evol suggests putting up money on a Poker game, saying that he has never played before, you know what to expect Do you guys have any thoughts on XbA? The new update, or new features? Is there anything in particular either of you would like to see in the future?
R: I love XBA. As a site, as a community. There are so many people here that are just really cool. That sounds REALLY gay, but whatever. Some of the people I like the most in the world are from this site. I REALLY like the update, I think Boobie did an incredible job, and I think I've said MANY MANY MANY times how hard it is for me to believe he's just a kid. I like the Event feature, that's a really neat thing I haven't seen on many sites (everyone sign up for my birthday!!!!). I can't think of anything I'd like to see in the future, but Boobie is 3 steps ahead anyway, so even if I named something, he'd probably quote me and say something cryptic like "Funny you should mention this " Hahahahaha.
E: I think that Raine pretty much summed up the XBA experience for both of us! One thing I would like to add, is that the reason that I believe I have stayed here and made myself at home like I did, is that this forum really made me feel like a gamertag, and not just a number. It just seemed like every other forum I have posted on puts you in a little corner, so far away from the rest of it's community. This one is so cozy and personal. I feel like I have made quite a few friends on this site, and that is not something I can say about any other forum.
R: :grabs computer and says "gimme that!": As fascinating as Evol's site butt kissing is, he brings up a great point. He and I are both members of the other sites, 360v, a360p, xbox.com, etc etc etc... and we didn't stumble across each other on any other site except this one. This one really has brought its members closer.
H: Lol, well thank you both for doing taking the time to sit down with me.
R: And thank you, Hektic, for doing us both together! This was fun!
E: HAHA! She said doing us!! lololololololololololol
Lmao, well, if any of you have any more questions for Raine and/or Evol, feel free to ask it below and I am sure either one of them would be happy to answer, provided they don't trip over each other dashing to the keyboard Thanks again guys!
