Community Spotlight: LOWlifeSpIdEr
Now that my introduction is out of the way let me first get things rolling with the introduction of a member here at Xbox America that most people know or have at least seen while browsing the forums or looking for a laugh in the picture threads.
LOWlifeSpIdEr is the man of the month and this also happens to be his gamertag, known as Spider around the forums he’s a great member of the community and has just accomplished a HUGE milestone when it comes to gamerscore.
200,000 gamerscore was broken on November 11th, 2009 and I just thought that this has justified Spider for the opportunity to be in the community spotlight.
Spider: Thank you very much for having me in the spotlight The mighty 200,000 Barrier has FINALLY fallen and Jurassic: The Hunted was the game that put me over with the achievement Death from Below. I was at 199,991 and needed a 9 pointer but the only one I could find was in Blitz the League but I had it already . Just to let all those people wondering "I am not retiring, I repeat I am NOT retiring"! I may slow down a bit as I am looking to go back to school in the spring. One day I will be making video games instead of just playing them .
XxTime (AJ): Well Spider, it’s been a long time coming and when I joined the site I believe that you were somewhere around 157,000 gamerscore. What started your “obsession” with gamerscore?
Spider: You were close lol, I was right around 152,000 that day. I don't really know what started my obsession. I got my Xbox 360 the day before they were released to the public (I won that Mountain Dew "Every 10 Minutes" deal where they gave out Xbox 360's every 10 minutes a day for 9 weeks). So I got my Xbox courtesy of UPS that morning I open up the box and let it warm up because it was quite chilly outside, as soon as I thought it was good to go I hooked that bad boy up and fired it up. Boy was I surprised when I got a free game (Hexic HD) already pre-loaded on the Hard drive so I decided to play it. When I got that first achievement oh so long ago I was kinda like WTF??? is this and for some reason I was just instantaneously hooked.
XxTime(AJ): Since you’ve been at it for so long, what keeps you motivated to keep that already huge number climbing? I know 50,000 gamerscore was a huge milestone for me, I can’t even imagine what 100,000 gamerscore must feel like when you final pop that last achievement that breaks the barrier let alone 200,000 gamerscore.
Spider: 10,000 was a joy, 50,000 was just unimaginable at the time, 100,000 I have to admit was kinda like sex lmao jk, 150,000 was kinda meh because I had my sights on 200,000 and now 200,000 was just a breath of fresh air knowing that I busted down that barrier, 300K here I come . Honestly what keeps me motivated is just trying to see how high of a score I can obtain, that's it. I'm not in a race with anyone but myself. Sure there have been the Friendly Gamerscore Competitions which I would love to give a huge shoutout to Nemesis Mask for creating. I can't remember exactly but I am pretty sure I won the first 3 and then 2 more after that, I would also like to thank him for letting me be the go to guy when he needed a break, without those FGC's I probably wouldn't have broken the 200k mark by the end of the year like I planned. I would also like to thank KnuckPuck (even though he sometimes get's a bad rap)for creating the Game Completion Leaderboard because that sparked my interest to complete more games.
XxTime(AJ): I know I’ve already asked you this but for everyone else here on the site I’m sure they would love to know how you keep adding all these games to your collection. Are you a subscriber to Gamefly or do you have some other method to your madness that lets you buy/rent such a numerous supply of games.
Spider: Nope no Gamefly involved in fact I have only ever rented one game for the xbox 360 and that was Avatard . I am a video game collector (this started way before Xbox 360 but has since become only Xbox 360 games as of right now) so I buy all my games. I usually tend to wait until they are somewhere in the $19.99 and lower range and am always looking for great deals. I am a Bartender (full time) at my parents bar and have my 360 in the back room so when it is a slow night I go back and play a single player game (not MP otherwise if a customer comes in I get pwned or have to leave the game and get bad feedback). I also rent the apartment above the bar so rent is super cheap so I have more money to buy videogames .
XxTime(AJ): When it comes to XbA I love just sitting down at my computer and going through the forums finding funny pictures in one of the picture threads or some hilarious posts, most of these seem to revolve around you. How do you find such hilarious pictures and how can you spend so much time away from your Xbox?! It must be some type of “job” or something getting in the way of your free time!!!
Spider: LOL yeah I love those "You laugh you lose", "Random Pics" and the "Cosplay Fail" threads. I am a great multi-tasker and have my laptop pretty much by my side at all times even when I'm gaming. Most of the time when you see me posting pics though is when I'm working and its really slow so I get ULTRA-BORED and just start searching some of my favorite sites like Icanhascheezeburger.com network or I just google random stuff. What can I say I love to make people laugh.
XxTime(AJ): Well since we all now know how the gigantic amount of gamerscore and hilarious pictures are obtained what is it that you like to do when you’re not gaming or at work?
Spider: Just hang out with friends, watch movies (its my second love and I'm glad I am now a netflix subscriber) other than that there isn't much since I work everyday but Saturday and Sunday (you most likely won't see me gaming on these 2 days unless its really early or really late due to hanging out with friends). Oh and I can't forget to mention I love running the opposite direction every time I see a police officer and If they come after me, stop me and ask why I ran I say "I need the exercise!"
XxTime(AJ): Do you and your friends (if you have any of course ) like to play Xbox together and if so, do they have any sinister plans (like I do) to steal your gamertag so they too can flaunt the obscene score and all those sporty waffles you have?
Spider: lol yeah I have friends even though they aren't as big of gamers as I am. Out of all my friends there are only 3 that play Xbox every now and then. 1 of them got bit by the WoW bug and defected to the PC realm for a while but once Borderlands came out he got back into gaming for a bit (until his Xbox red ringed.... I think WoW killed it either that or it was that wicked awesome barrel roll I did while he was in the gunner seat) But the other 2 and I still play borderlands every now and then and now with MW2 being out we play that a lot. None of them are really interested in gamerscore like I am and they give me crap about it every now and then but I don't care what they think. YOU HAS A PLAN TO DO WHAT WITH MY GAMERTAG! THAT'S IT THIS INTERVIEW IS OVER!
XxTime(AJ): Well this concludes the interview/monthly spotlight, I would like to thank you Spider for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this with me and I, along with the whole XbA community look forward to seeing how high your score is actually going to go. Take care and keep the achievements poppin’.
Spider: I'M BACK I FORGOT MY WATER!!! lol peace out.
