How about an option to "like" a topic, post, or even another member.... okay maybe not the member. I was thinking something like a thumbs up or thumbs down kinda thing like they do on Youtube. This way, the more popular topics are easier to access for members of the site. Thoughs anyone?

Yeah, that's the problem. People don't like to go and post how they disagree, so they just thumb down. IMO a Dislike/Like system would work better, with the availability to see who likes/dislikes a post just like FB.

Well it would just be changing them hiding behind thumbs to them just putting their name out there. No other explanation for their feelings would be given.
It would probably stop a lot of it though. As it would show if the exact same person thumbs down every single post another member makes. It would have their name there, to show that it is abusing the system.
